Boe Eng Fake Nike shoes confiscated by police CPD photos
Three knocks on a door gave police entrance to a room filled with an estimated $162,000 worth of knock-off Nike shoes.
More than 1,700 pairs were confiscated from the backroom of at the E. Pretty Inc. store at 624 West Roosevelt Road, say police.
Police got a tip there were counterfeit products being sold at the store. They were also told they needed to give a three knock code on the back door to buy a pair of the fake Nikes.
They went to the store, knocked three times on the rear door and say Eng answered. After some dealing, he allegedly gave undercover officers 16 pairs of what he said were authentic Nike Air Force gym shoes in exchange for cash.
An expert examined the shoes and determined they were fake. A search warrant was served and that's when police say they found 114 cardboard boxes loaded with shoes in the back room.
Eng, 43, lives on the 2500 block of West 40th Street. He's charged with theft and misdemeanor unauthorized use of trademarks.
