A man was shot to death as he attempted to break into a northwest Atlanta home late Thursday night, police said.
Officers found the man in the driveway of the home at 2539 Abner Place with a gunshot wound in his chest, Atlanta police spokeswoman Ms. Kim Jones said.
"The victim attempted to break into the home and the person at the home shot the intruder," Ms. Jones said.
She said a second person also was involved in the attempted home invasion, but investigators did not receive any details description of the person.
The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the spokeswoman said.
Officers also recovered a firearm in the driveway of the home, Ms. Jones said.
