Finding other writers: Does a writer have to work alone?

Many Atlantans find themselves wanting to write a story.  Be it a screenplay, a novel, comic, novella, short story, or whatever, they simply want to write.  This is what a writer does.  But what happens when the writer is finished, or is pressed into a box he can't seem to find a way out of?  Who does he turn to?

In Atlanta there are several groups that meet weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.  Far too many to list here, but most can be found in the following two sites:

www.meetup.com is a source that provides authors and would be writers a way to connect that is easy and, for the most part, free.  With this site you can simply type in what your looking for and, if its out there, it will be listed in the results.  If it is not out there than you may have an opportunity to start one.

www.facebook.com is another source, not as prevalent or direct as Meetup.com but it does have a list of a few groups.  Simply message the organizer for more information and your off.

Also, remember that Google is your friend.  If the above links fail you, Google can probably bring you some decent results.
