As a huge fan of Muse, you can imagine my excitement when I logged onto the iTunes store and saw their newest single had been released. “Uprising” is the first single from the upcoming album titled “The Resistance”, scheduled to come out on September 14th, 2009. Apparently, one of the tracks on the album is called “The United States of Eurasia”.
According to Wikipedia, “Starting on 15 July 2009 and as of 19 July 2009, five sections of the song United States of Eurasia out of six were unlocked in the viral game 'Ununited States of Eurasia' on Muse's official website. The five sections have been pasted together and, thus, about three minutes of the song can be heard. On the 20th of July, the 6th part was found, but the song is still incomplete (on the track listing it is over 5 minutes) now the viral game has been introduced to the USA, with the official website asking for 'recognition' from the USA to help complete the song. The song received its first airplay on KXLL by Joe Ellis on the (19th July 2009). This was shortly followed by BBC Radio 1, played firstly on Zane Lowe's evening show (20th July 2009) and then on Jo Whiley's show the following morning.”
The song seems like a winding up of sorts, as though it’s there to warm up a crowd. I like it so far, though I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite of all time. I cannot wait to hear their new album, however, and I look forward to seeing them in their first televised American performance at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
Check out their new single and get ready for another fantastic album from Muse!
