The mood was positive and determined as Craven County Republicans opened their headquarters office in New Bern.
Senator Preston was on hand to address the crowd and to cut the ribbon as applause rang through the offices. In her address, she reminded everyone about her record and asked for their vote and support. she also indicated the Party needed to win both the House and the Senate in order to ensure a return to responsible government.
Several candidates were on hand and spoke about their need for votes and support, some for the Primary, some, with no party opposition, for the vote and hard work needed to win in November.
Chairman Tyson reminded all attendees that all the candidates running in Primary Elections had pledged to fully support the Party choices in order to win in November.
Renee Sisk, currently a member of the Craven County Board of Commissioners, reassured everyone that the Board was working to make sure that the new tax rate would be lowered to assure a minimal impact in light of the new values put in place by the Tax Office. Welcome News for many in the room.
Chairman Tyson thanked the volunteers that had worked hard to prepare the Headquarters and that would be manning the phones, stuffing the envelopes and doing the large number of things needed to operate the facility. He also reminded everyone that Early Voting is in full swing.
