Still recovering from the Russian River Beer Revival, Stumptown Brewery owner/brewer Peter Hackett is all smiles about his newest beer, Blimey the Wanker, a non-traditional IPA available only at the brewery along the Russian River.
Blimey the Wanker is based on the previous Stumptown IPA, Boot Legger IPA. In Peter’s opinion, the last beer was a bit too malty and he wanted to bring out the hops, but not necessarily through bitterness.
Blimey the Wanker features English malts and a wide variety of hops. Compared to the previous recipe, Hackett cut back the caramel malt and focused on more northwestern hops, specifically Centennials. Pitched with the same lager yeast as the Boot Legger and dry-hopped with Centennials, Blimey finishes around 7.4% and in the 60 IBU range.
Still not completely happy with the result, Hackett plans on tweaking the recipe but keeping “The Wanker” on draft regularly. Still looking for more hop impact, the next batch should include more dry-hopping and late additions.
If you’re curious as to how to make it to Stumptown, do the easy thing and take the Sonoma County Transit Route 20. For slightly more than $5 round trip, you can enjoy a few Wankers on the deck overlooking the Russian River and make sure you get home safe.

I'm surprised you did not connect the dots on this one. It is an obvious rip on Russian River Brewing "Pliny the Elder." Get with the program folks!
Bacchus, I'm going to give Mario the benefit of the doubt and say he got the PtE nudge. In fact, I'm going to say he felt it was so obvious that obligatory goat-getting didn't fit the bill. But I WILL give him flack for not making safe an adverb. Please, everyone, get home safely.
