If you’re looking for something to do in wine country this weekend, and would prefer to do it with a beer in your hand, then you should be headed to Napa on Saturday, August 28th. Napa’s Blues, Brews and BBQ is free to the public and features plenty of entertainment options.
The Saturday event is based around three musical stages offering an assortment of blues inspired music to keep you dancing. To satisfy your thirst, be sure to visit the Backyard Beer Garden. At least 11 breweries will be on hand pouring twenty beers, including Lagunitas, Pyramid, Dogfish Head, Alaskan, New Belgium, Sam Adams and 21st Amendment. Tastes of beer will be available for purchase.
After grabbing a beer, be sure to be at the Dwight Murray Plaza in Downtown Napa for the Bounty Hunter Rib Eatin’ Contest. This eating contest will feature 10 Napa Valley Winemakers going elbow to elbow to take down as many Bounty Hunter Ribs as they can in a limited amount of time. The contestants will be Mike Drash, Tallulah Wines (Returning Champion); Tony Biagi, PlumpJack & Cade; Armando Ceja, Ceja Vineyards; Keith Emerson, Vineyard 29 & Emerson Brown Wines; Glenn Hugo, Hugo Family Cellars; Jeff Keene, Cornerstone Cellars; Zach Long, Girard & Jonas; Kevin Mills, Trinitas Cellars; Tim Milos, Bounty Hunter Rare Wines; and Steve Reynolds, Reynolds Family Winery.
After watching such a demonstration, I’m sure you’ll be hungry yourself. If you can grill it, they’ll have it, from ribs to chicken, oysters, corn and pork.
For more information on the event, visit Napa Downtown. The event begins at 1 and goes to 6. For those wanting to come early, a special live broadcast of KGO 810’s “Dining Around with Gene Burns” will be on the main stage starting at 10 AM.
