Coming up on their 9 anniversary, Ruth McGowan's Brewpub in Cloverdale is shaking things up. In the near future look for a new menu, a return of live music and beers from new brewer Tim Gallagher, formerly of Russian River Brewing Company.
While most of the beers you may be familiar with at Ruth's will remain unchanged, there will be some new developments in terms of the lineup. Expect Monster Brown to dial back the hops a bit to return the beer to the malt driven brew it was when first brewed at Ruth's. Also, making a return will be Ruth's Stout, the original stout brewed at the brewpub years ago.
In addition to changes to the everyday lineup, look for more seasonals to make their way to the menu, starting with a beer brewed for this year's Citrus Fair. This will be a Belgian styled ale using local citrus fruits. The seasonal brew available today is an Oatmeal Stout, a chocolatey, roasty stout with a touch of chocolate and a creamy mouthfeel.
For those wanting Ruth's away from the pub, a bottling or canning line is in the works. While decisions are still being made on which packaging material they will use, something is certain to happen in the future.
New brews, new food and some live entertainment, Ruth McGowan's Brewpub should be a destination for anyone in northern Sonoma County.
