Beer and rum drinks to celebrate rum month

Flaming Dr. PepperIn honor of Rum Month, July here on Examiner.com, here are a few beer and rum cocktails to enjoy as you lounge by the pool.
 
Flaming Dr. Pepper
  • 3/4 shot amaretto
  • 1/4 shot 151 proof rum
  • lager beer

Fill a a pint glass with your favorite lager and then pour a shot glass 3/4 full with the amaretto and slowly float the rum on top.  Ignite the contents of the shot glass, blow out the flame, drop into the pint of beer and then chug.

  
Headhunter
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz spiced rum
  • 1 oz coconut milk
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz papaya juice
  • ice
  • 1 oz beer
Mix all ingredients in a shaker with the ice; shake until well mixed and chilled.  Slowly add the beer and stir to blend.  Serve in a tall glass.  For extra island flavor, serve in a 1/2 coconut. 
 
 
Acapulco Twister
  • 4 oz Clamato juice
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • Tabasco sauce, salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 oz lemon rum
  • 4 oz lager beer
Mix the Clamato, lemon juice, Tabasco sauce, salt and pepper in a tall glass over ice.  Stir in the rum and finish filling the glass with the beer.
 
 
Beeraquirilla
  • handful ice
  • 5 oz lager beer
  • 1/2 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz light rum
  • 3 oz strawberry daiquiri mix
  • 3 oz Margarita mix
Add the ingredients to a blender in the order listed.  Blend until frothy and then serve in a Margarita glass.
 
 
Bootneck
  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 12 oz lager beer
Pour rum into a tankard.  Slowly pour the beer down the side of the tankard to avoid a large head.  Serve.
 
 
Caribbean Boilermaker
  • 12 oz Corona beer
  • 1 oz light rum
Pour the Corona into a pilsner glass.  Add the rum.  Serve.
 
 
Juniata Juice
  • 12 oz lager beer
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 2 Tbsp frozen lime juice concentrate
Add the rum to the beer in a mug and slowly stir in the lime juice concentrate.
