Spruce Tip Ale - Keeping scurvy at bay for centuries - from Skagway Brewing

The brewery's origins go back to the
Klondike Gold Rush, when in 1897, the brewery opened its doors to the prospectors who went north to strike it rich. The brewery closed in 1904, when the Gold Rush was winding down and the support for prohibition was ramping up.
Today's Skagway Brewing Company has
sixteen beers on tap, a combination of their handcrafted brews and some guest brews from all over the world. They brew their beers using locally generated
hydroelectric power and pure Alaskan water.
Their seasonal Spruce Tip Ale is one to write home about. Brewer Trevor Clifford deserves a medal for this one. The alcohol by volume (ABV) is 5.5%. It pours a light orange-yellow color with a thin but creamy white head. The aroma is a fantastic
piney spruce with hints of fruit and spice. This medium-bodied beer has a mildly sweet, fresh, crisp taste, and a finish of spruce. This is a unique beer, for sure, but it is delicious and very palatable.
Unfortunately, the brewery's beers are only available on-site as they do not bottle them. If you make it to Skagway Brewery and like what you taste, ask them when they're going to start bottling and bringing their beers to Southern California!
