We now have a new brewery in the Columbus area. The Liquor Control Board issued the license in October to Dan Cochran, brewmaster and owner. The brewery is on West 6th Avenue and is a production brewery, meaning the beer is mostly sold off-site at local pubs and stores, although he will have a tap room hours at the brewery where you can get growlers to go. Cochran says he might consider a brewpub in the future if this takes off.
Cochran worked for the Wooden Pony in Mansfield in the mid 90's so has been around the brewing craft brewing scene for a while, and says it's been a long time dream of his to open his own brewery.
There will be a launch party for Four String Brewing Co at Woodland's Tavern on January 13, from 6-8 pm. They will be tapping Cochran's Backstage Blonde Ale and Brass Knuckle American Pale Ale. Are you noticing a theme here? Four String, Backstage, Brass... ? Yes, Dan also has a music background, another of his passions is playing bass, and he has toured with Columbus bands, playing bass and sampling good beers across the U.S.
So come on out to the party at the Woodland's on January 13th for the kick-off party. It's free, there's live music, but you do have to register to get in. The party is sponsored by Drink Up Columbus and for reservations click here.
