(c) BREW Kettle
The event we wait all year for is here! Ogrefest 2010 starts today at the BREW Kettle Taproom and Smokehouse in Strongsville. It is a week long celebration of all beers strong: Barleywines, Imperial IPAs, Imperial Stouts, Old ales, Belgian triples, etc.
Topping the list at 11% alcohol by volume is The BREW Kettle's (TBK) own JackHammer Barleywine. Appropriately named after brewer Jack Kephart, this beer won first prize at this past weekend's 5th Annual Barleywine Competition at Cole's Restaurant and Bar in Buffalo, New York. This competition included barleywines from all over the U.S. (Second place went to Bell's Third Coast Old Ale, and third place to Redhook's Treblehook Barleywine). Congratulations to Jack for brewing the best barleywine in the U.S.!
Check the BREW Kettle website for the current list of what's on tap, but it may change quickly. Their 24 taps will be constantly rotating with high gravity (read "high alcohol") beers until they are all gone. The event is scheduled to last a week, but some may linger a little longer and some may disappear quickly. So... get there soon if you want to sample the JackHammer, as it's on draught right now!
