The York Pennsylvania Police Department gave new meaning to the phrase deadbeat dad when they arrested a father, beat him severely and then threw him in prison for getting $500 behind in his child support payments. They also dragged him out of the house and to Lancaster County prison with only a top on. From the waist down he was completely naked.
Furthermore, they arrested his daughter for hindering the apprehension of a fugitive, the same daughter that the child support payments went to. She was staying at her father's house; and when the police came to the house, she told them her father wasn't home. She was telling the truth because she did not know he had come home.
All this for $500 in child support. But there's more. The ex-wife had written a letter agreeing to wait for the child support, knowing that the father had just started working. So none of this should have happened, but it did anyway.
This happened in May and was brought to light by Ben of daddyjustice.com. Take time to watch all three of these videos from daddyjusticefilms in order to hear the whole story.
No doubt there are more stories like Bill's around the United States as non-custodial parents are having trouble paying child support during the recession. After all of the press coverage of the government's bailout of banks, the auto industry and mortgage industry, the press has finally begun to focus on the plight of non-custodial parents trying to pay child support. But there has been no bailout and little mercy shown to non-custodial parents during the current recession.
Bill's story reveals that there is not likely to be any bailout or mercy shown to non-custodial parents in the near future either.

Wow... Seems that the police are little more than "collection" goons for the family court "operation." To protect and serve - what joke. And what a joke the mafi... er, justice system has become.
State and local government in the U.S. is wildly out of control. If these cops did what is implied here, they deserve jail time, as do all people in the information and command chain from any government agency originating a complaint against him down to the "officers" engaging in this alleged behavior.
This is disgusting and a reason to never reside in, visit, invest in, nor do any business in York or Pennsylvania.
Offensive beyond description.
just another example how men are treated by the family court system. if it would have been a woman an arrest wouldn't have been made. even if she would have owed $50,000
The States and Family Law system makes millions of dollars removing fathers from their children not to mention volating their cival rights. It's a corrupt system and we need family law reform fast.
Attorneys fear speaking out on the corrupt system that caused this case. They won't speak out because they have no first amendment rights and fear losing their livlihood. Anything a lawyer says disparaging or "known to be false" of a Judge or lawyer can subject them to losing their law license.
Until a shared parenting statute is federally legislated, financial planning and removal of the finanicial motives to Judges and lawyers to screw noncustodial parents is put into place, the system will generate stories like this on a MINUTE BY MINUTE basis..not just periodically....
It no wonder why people from other cultures die to get our "system" out of their country...this country sucks. So why don't I or people with my opinion leave? Because passports are seized, drivers licenses revoked and people incarcerated...yes debtors prison is flourishing and Gulag America grows..WAKE UP JOE AND JANE PUBLIC...!
I'm a Michigan resident and I am going through the same thing! I'm tired of watching people call other people dead beat dads when they cant afford to pay their child support, I showed my child support my medical record and they replied Its about the money, and they dont care how you get it! hard for someone to get a job who has severe major depression, intermittent explosive disorder, spinal stenosis, Mild scoliosis, facet joint syndrome, moderate degenerative changes in my spine, and muscle spasms all located in my back but I'm suppose to compete with a 10% unemployment rate and rising in the U.S., plus I live in the state with the highest rate of unemployment... but when I talk about suicide I'm the crazy one? yea its hard to keep rebuilding a relationship when your locked away from them over and over again for something that you have no power to change!
This county was where the "Intelligent Design" controversy in school science class happened a few years ago. Now they have "Intelligently Designed Justice!"
