Abducted baby, Yair Anthony Carillo. Nashville Police Department.
Update Oct. 6. The Associated Press is reporting that the baby will be reunited with its mother.
"NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A lawyer says a Tennessee mom whose newborn was kidnapped has been cleared of baby-selling allegations and will be reunited with her four children."
The Tennessean is reporting that they were reunited earlier today.
Update Oct 5. The Associated Press is reporting that the children were taken into custody after allegations were made that someone in the family had tried to sell the baby.
Even Ripley might not have believed this one. Tammy Renee Silas stabs an immigrant mother in Tennessee and kidnaps her baby. The police find the baby in Ardmore, Alabama and return it to its mother, Maria Gurrolla, and let her hold the baby for a short while. Then the State takes the baby and Gurrolla's other children into custody.
According to an Associated Press report, "Rob Johnson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, said the children were taken from their mother, Maria Gurrolla, "purely for safety reasons," though he would not detail why the state deemed they were in danger."
"Our focus is on the children, and under the current situation right now, we think the safest thing to do is take the children into state custody," he said."
Rob Johnson's refusal to answer the question is typical of Child Protective Services It seems a lot like pleading the fifth. No answer is forthcoming because Mr. Johnson knows there is not a good reason for taking Ms. Gurrolla's children into custody.
The police have admitted that they know of no other safety threat to the family. Nevertheless, the children have been placed in foster care rather than with their father or with relatives.
FBI Special Agent, My Harrison, has said. "This baby is a week old, and this child has spent half his life away from his family. I think it's time we reunite them."
This is not the first time that parents have been victimized by Child Protective Services following a tragedy. After a couple and their baby were injured in Charlotte, North Carolina by a car that jumped the curb, the couple lost their child to Child Protective Services after almost losing her to death, because Child Protective Services said that the motel the family was living in was not adequate housing.

How do you know there is no good reason for taking the children? Don't you care if these children are in a safe environment?
Chris, there is no perfectly safe environment for children. Not even when the government is in control--eg. your local government school. If there was a good reason for taking the children, you would think that CPS would be quick to justify their actions by telling the press why and even giving reasonable details to prove their point.
Those children are as unsafe in the care of CPS as they would be in the hands of that woman that kidnapped the baby and their reason for taking them is no more valid than any that she might have given. It's a big mistake to think that the government has anyone's best interest at heart except their own when they do ANYTHING.
Gawd. I can't believe, after all the trauma this family has been through, that the State would compound the damage by taking the other kids.
P.S. This family needs a lawyer...fast.
Chris, what makes you think there is a good reason for taking her children away? It says right in the article that they wouldn't say why the state deemed they were in danger. That mother is innocent of any crime. She is the victim that got stabbed and her baby kidnapped out of her arms. Why is she being punished when she didn't do anything wrong? This is just another case where the CPS is taking children away from innocent parents so they can get money. I personally know the 36 children that were kidnapped from the Alamo Ministries and they were not abused in any way and it has been a year since they got kidnapped and they still have not been returned to their innocent parents. Furthermore, they have terminated some of the parents rights and want to adopt out their kids. There is no safe environment when you're dealing with the CPS.
Hey, I hope this mom will get her kids back asap. Another abuse by CPS.
The family has relatives in area. Reported in the local papers.
Why aren't children being placed there?
The oldest child is around 11.
Now, it possible that this is a true immigration issue. However, Mom was deemed no threat to children, however. Why are these innocent children being taken from their family?
Why does CPS traffick in children?
Who makes the law in USA, are they on drugs??? Im English and thought our system/laws were a sham, but I see USA laws as being Absurd...This poor mother is producing milk for her baby, she needs to bond. I hope some decent lawyer will offer free help.
Daniel, Have you heard the Jack Stratton story? According to him, his 10 kids were taken by CPS from his home in Gastonia, NC by Mecklenburg County DSS CPS with no probable cause. Check out his story at jackstratton.com. I was supposed to have interviewed him about this after his failed attempt at running for Mayor of Charlotte, but he didn't show. Might be worth it for you to look into.
TN does NOT place kids with family members. They say safety is the issue because it's a nice vague reason. TN is corrupt and removes kids from homes with no cause except for vague reasons like safety or suspected abuse. This system needs to be stopped.
I know people trust agencies like this but unless you've been under a microscope with them looking for any chance they can use to take your kids from you then you can't understand what's happening. If you are a poor person in TN you are a target for these people. Unless you've dealt directly with an agency like this don't comment because you don't know what you are talking about.
According to the mother Maria the woman who stabbed her made a phone call saying she had completed her mission. That shoulds like someone else was involved, no one knows who that someone else could be.
I had a feeling something else was going on. I could not believe they took the children away for no reason what-so-ever.
Chris
Do you know what the "good" reason was for taking these children ?
The new information about someone possibly selling the baby are only allegations. And unless one of the parents was the one who allegedly offered to sell the baby, then the children should not have been removed from the parents' custody.
