Lisa Nixon, happily married mother of five children, has become the latest examiner to focus on Child Protective Services. Lisa is the CPS examiner for Surry County North Carolina. She has alread written her first article, which you can read here. Not only is Lisa a lovely lady, her first article is lovely as well, even though it deals with an ugly subject--the troubling number of deaths that have occurred while children have been in the care of Child Protective Services.

Lisa graduated with honors from Surry Community College with an associate's degree in applied science, paralegal technologies. Since graduating, Lisa has used her degree to try and affect change in the Child Protective Industry to better protect the children they come into contact with or who are placed in their custody. Lisa has had a blog about CPS for quite sometime. You can also follow her on Twitter.
Lisa brings to five the number of examiners who focus on Child Protective Services. Besides Lisa and myself, there is Leonard Henderson, Family Rights Examiner, Teri Stoddard who also is a Family Rights Examiner and Laura Lynn, another lovely lady, who covers the Los Angeles Family Court system.
I have been overwhelmed by the number of people who need help with CPS or who would like their stories told by an examiner. I've had to neglect some stories but with more CPS examiners available, the possibility exists for me to pass on stories to others when I cannot write them and vice-versa.
Congratulations once again Lisa for joining examiner and helping us fight the fight to reform CPS.

good job lisa
Thanks for the mention Daniel. I'm working to reform family law for cps families, and unmarried and divorced parents too.
Dan,
I don't know whether to thank you or hide under a rock, at least it is a good picture! I do love your story about me All I can say is WOW, wait until mom sees this, she will want a copy to hang on the wall.
Thank you so much, for your show of support, it is deeply appreciated.
I became involved with CPS for a totally different reason than you, my involvement began after I made a report of child abuse, which was ignored for 2 and half months. When I called the state office in Raleigh and complained about the Statutory Law violations, they came after us, going so far as to forge and falsify documents to protect themselves.
I will share an article about this on my Examiner.com page, later, when I am more established and know what I am doing:)
I look forward to adding my voice to yours and the other CPS Examiners. I hope that together, we can make a diffence for the families and children who are currently suffering in this broken system.
Thanks again...
Lisa, good luck in your new examiner role. I've been reading Dan's articles for sometime. My niece and her family are currently involved with CPS in another state, Michigan. The average citizen doesn't realize how out of control CPS can be. I warned my niece that CPS would go after her friend when the friend refused to say that my niece's husband was a bad parent. Sure enough, the CPS "investigator" was at her friends door within the week to check on her home! The "investigator" said that she saw no reason to be there. I pray for the day when transparency become the norm so that the average citizen can see how CPS handles their case loads. It actually has helped in one area of the country rather than hindered the process. Accountability goes a long way for everyone.
