"Last year, as Senator Lautenberg alluded to, the Department of
Homeland Security launched an investigation of allegations that
Laura Callahan, a senior official in the Chief Information Officer’s
office had used, in connection with her Federal employment, a
bogus degree from Hamilton University in Wyoming. Any claim
that such a degree represents legitimate educational achievement
is at a minimum fundamentally dishonest and cannot be tolerated
within the Federal service. In some cases, such a claim could also
be a prosecutable crime." (emphasis added)
Testimony from Congressman Tom Davis of Virginia. May 11, 2004
June 7, 2010 Update: Steven B. Feldman will be arraigned next Monday at 4:00pm.
Dr. Steven B. Feldman was arrested in Ballston Spa Town Court yesterday on a number of charges including felonies, after an investigation by the New York State BCI, concerning alleged false claims to holding Ph.D level degrees in psychology.
The doctor has appeared as a witness on a number of occasions in Saratoga Family Court and has been employed under contract by the Saratoga County Public Defenders Office.
According to my sources, Feldman allegedly claims to have college degrees from Richardson University and Hamilton University, diploma mills once located in a former Motel 6 in Evanston Wyoming. Hamilton University has been investigated both by Congress and the television show, 60 Minutes.
The most famous "graduate" of Hamilton University is Laura Callahan, former senior director at the Department of Homeland Security, most noted for presiding over the disappearance of thousands of government emails in 2000.
Since his arrest, almost all information about Feldman appears to have been removed from the internet.
Dr. Feldman is not listed under licensed psychologists on the New York State Office of the Profession's website, however he is listed as licensed in Mental Health Counseling.
