Free Laura Ling and Euna Lee

Rally march
At a rally held on Thursday, the message was clear; “Bring them home!”

Lisa Ling, journalist and sister to Laura Ling, spoke to friends, family, and supports pleading for amnesty for her sister and Euna.

“She said to me, we broke the law in Korea and we are very sorry. The only way we can come home is if our government asks the North Korean government for amnesty,” Lisa said.

The crowd of about 150 people stood behind Lisa on the west steps of the Sacramento Capitol building, holding signs and embracing family and friends of the girls who had been clearly distraught.

Fellow journalist, old high school classmates and government officials also joined the lineup of speakers on behalf of the Laura and Euna also conveying the messages that the two want to get out so desperately.

Laura’s husband who spoke about his wife said, “In the one and only letter that she got to write, she wrote to me and said, ‘please, don’t let them forget about us.’”

Writers Note: As a journalist I feel that Laura and Euna are true journalists and humanitarians. They were giving voices to the refugees that cannot speak for themselves during North Korean conflicts. I hope everyone will speak out on behalf of Laura and Euna and help bring them home to their families where they belong and deserve to be. My thoughts are with their families. To help please visit lauraandeuna.com and sign the petition for amnesty and utilize the addresses given. Send letters to the North Korean government and governments around the world and plead for help for Laura and Euna. You can also send your well wishes to them by postcard. Please help them come home and tell the story that they have worked so hard to tell.

When they talk about Korea, they should be more specific. Not just Korea, but North Korea. That is important.
