National Black Republican Association calls on Democrat Party to apologize for racism

President Obama socialism

The National Black Republican Association (NBRA) has issued a petition requesting President Obama to issue a proclamation of apology to black Americans for the Democrat Party’s 150-year history of racism in America. The organization’s current newsletter, “The Democratic Party Owes Blacks an Apology” by Chairman Frances Rice, outlines the reasons for the petition.

The NBRA is not asking this of our government, our country, American citizens, nor the Republican Party. They are asking it solely from the Democrat Party. Further, they ask Democrats to stop “issuing unwarranted apologies on behalf of America, while simultaneously using racial politics for partisan political gain.”

The organization places the blame for current racial divides in America at the feet of the Democrat Party. In the newsletter, they contend the Democrat Party is “the party of the four S’s: Slavery, Secession, Segregation, and now Socialism.”

They believe the socialist policies of the Democrat Party harm blacks, rather than help them, and serve to further racial tensions through victim-mongering.

Chairman Rice spells out how the socialism of the Democrat Party uses a “despicable..strategy …to keep blacks poor, angry, and voting for Democrats.” And further, that “the socialist policies of the Democrats have destroyed the economic and social fabric of black communities.”

She states that there are two main reasons for black support of the Democrat Party, despite the fact that most blacks are generally conservative. First is the Democrats’ false branding of the Republican Party as being racist. And second, is the deeply-rooted belief that “the government must do something for blacks”. Whereas the Republican Party promotes self-sufficiency among the black community, the Democrat Party insists on blacks’ dependence on the government.

The newsletter details President Obama’s practice of “the politics of poverty” from his time in Chicago politics to the presidency.

Chairman Rice concludes by asking Democrats to “stop using race baiting as a political weapon and apologize to blacks so that our nation can finally heal our racial wounds.”

Ann, this is opening a HUGE can of worms. You do realize don't you that MOST Americans have little clue about which party has "kept the black man down" right?
Yet they continue to vote for the party who wants TO KEEP THEM DOWN on the plantation.
Look at the policies of this administration now. Make more and more people dependent on the government tit.
I doubt this will go over well with the dems since we all know it is the repubs who are the racist party!

The Democrats are more racist than Republicans. How do you justify using them simply as a voting bloc then enacting policies that keeps them clinging to the government (to bring votes back in), away from their gated communities and out of their kids schools? They're a bunch of hypocrites. I just wish some people would open up their damn eyes.

Its the same reason they want amnesty for illegal immigrants. If they can provide citizenship to 12 million illegal aliens, thats 12 million votes for Democrats. It's all about expanding their power. They could care less about the people themselves as much as they do preserving their power and solidifying their votes.

    Ms. Miller:

It is the Democratic party, not the Democrat party. When you resort to changing their legal name to somehow imply that they cannot be "democratic", your message gets lost.

You're all forgetting which side of the country tried to split from the Union over slavery. States' rights aside, shouldn't it just be common sense not to enslave people? Seriously? States have no right to make that decision in the same way that I have no right to decided whether or not the sun is going to rise. Seriously, how long has the south identified itself with Republicans? How long has the Republican party been a party of white men? Rhetorical questions aside, the only party that has clung to racism/prejudice after the heyday of the Civil Rights Movement is the Republicans, before that both parties were to blame. For reals, both of them were just going crazy with dogs and fire hoses. Also, although its anecdotal, about half of the Republicans I know personally are racist.

  • Anonemoose, check out the following - Dems not conservatives

    Bull Connor
“On this day in 1963, police in Birmingham, Alabama -- under the command of the Democrat sheriff, Eugene "Bull" Connor -- attacked several thousand African-American schoolchildren who were demonstrating peacefully for their civil rights. Connor's men used high-pressure hoses, clubs and police dogs in their assault, and then jailed nearly a thousand children.”

    George Wallace
“In 1963, Alabama Gov. George Wallace stood in front of Foster Auditorium at the University of Alabama in an attempt to stop desegregation of that institution by the enrollment of two black students. This became known as the "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door."

    Pres. Eisenhower, Republican
"Fifty years ago, nine black students, escorted by federal troops under the orders of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Ark."

Insisting that there will always be opportunities available for those "willing to work" is typical capitalist propaganda. Look around. You might work 80 hours a week for years on end and still never own a home or retire. Do you call that "freedom"?

At this point, I don't think blacks are loyal to any political party. I'm an independant. We are voting for candidates with the best ideas, and most practical solutions to help move this country forward. Its all about job creation, an improved education system, and promotion of an even playing field. Everything else is B.S. Do you think it goes unnoticed that those responsible for out-sourcing american jobs are in bed with the GOP (Good Old Boy Posse). I was also inclined to vote for a scholar with the necessary qualities to represent our country abroad. Obama was the best candidate for the job. The man is brilliant. Mitt Romney was my 2nd choice.

This is assinine. We all know that the racists of the party, those responsible for slavery and jim crow, jumped ship to the Republican party during the civil rights era. To blame them for it now is an insult to everyone who knows their history.

Many of you who posted comments on this article are missing the point. Reread the article very carefully and then try to digest it. I'm not white nor black, nor live in America, but I consider myself equal to any of you. You voted a man who you know will be going everywhere apologizing everything that was done centuries ago. See the problem is no one can let go of the past. Nowadays, no one wants to take responsibility. It's always "it's someones fault, not my fault, Always blaming someone else. Why? Hilary Smith says, "She works 80 hours for years and can never own a home or retire, do you call this freedom?". Well maybe you have to look at your spending habit for one,are you living beyond your means? do you try to outdo your neighbor? I don't know your situation is, but you sound very bitter and the only person responsible of your situation is you. Maybe you haven't been to another country much less live there. Don't be a whinner, be a winner.
    Look forward not backward.

    Seceded from the Union? Democrats
    Created the KKK? Democrats
Terrorized and demonized Republicans and "uppity" Black? Democrats
    Passed Jim Crow? Democrats
    Opposed Civil Rights? Democrats
Destroyed basic family ideals for Blacks (and other minorities) by inculcating the idea that the government "owes them" something? Democrats
Trying to keep people poor and dependent upon government aid? Democrats

The last item is modern, and proof that the Democrats don't care about minorities quite as they claim. If Republicans love rich people, and want a tax structure built to keep the rich people RICH, then what does that mean about the Democrats, who "love" minorities and the poor?

Tristan, if it's true all the "Dixicrats" became Republicans, then surely you can name some of them, right? And all the stuff Anon-e-moose said is part of the same effort the Democrats have used to try to falsely claim that the Republicans were at fault. If The south is so Republican, why were the last two Democrat Presidents southerners? Read American History in Black and White by David Barton.

It is the Democrat party. You don't say Obama is a DemocraTIC. You don't say the House and the Senate are controlled by the DemocraTICS.

Hillary, "Right, letting people starve to death is actually "freedom". Get a clue." A clue indeed. America is one of the few nations so successful that the biggest problem among its poor is OBESITY.

What, exactly is racist about personal responsibility and reduced Government? The Democrats have redefined racism into its opposite.

Tristan, perhaps you were born long after the civil rights era - and you never heard about LBJ's White House tapes, "n*gger this and n*gger that"?? And it continued through the 70's with Jimmy Carter and his well documented anti semitic orientation. Of course Hillary's fauz paux, "you f***ing Jew bastard" tells her story, and now you have Obama's "typical white person" attitude (before you try to 'spin' that, be advised - I have known him since 1973 and I *know* his attitude). I'll give you a break as someone who was likely born in the 80's or 90's - but get your facts straight before posting, perhaps you won't look nearly as ridiculous.

The Demo party needs more people to be dependent on THEM to stay in power. Therefore, they do what they can to tell certain types of people that they cannot make it on their own and they NEED the help of Democrats and government. That makes people DEPENDENT on them, so they vote for them over and over.

Although I hate the Repub party, I am a conservative. Cons believe people should be independent of government as it makes you slavish and dependency on people who give you things (Demos) or promise things keeps you there.

Wake up, America. The Demos have been BUYING votes over and over. And don't give me the line that tax cuts are 'buying' votes. The money is YOURS, it is not governments until they take it from you by force. A tax cut is not a gift, it is basically - less theft!

Remember, it was the Democrats that blocked and filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. A majority of Demos voted AGAINST it. I bet 95% of all African Americans do not know that.

Heck, Sen. Robert Byrd was the one that started the filibuster to BLOCK the Civil Rights Act. Where is he? Still in the Senate. Yep, the former Klan member. And a Democrat.

"jumped ship to the Republican party during the civil rights era."

Not true. The problem that the Repubs have with the racists is not that they are real Repubs, but they see that democrats basically give minorities special treatment. Repubs basically want equal treatment.

If you are a racist hick and are not smart enough to realize that the Demo party is actually destroying the black family and keeping minorities poor... which party would you vote for? If you only see that one party wants to treat minorities equal, and the other wants to give them special treatment, who do you think they might side with?

You do know that the Repub party was STARTED for two things... to preserve the Union and to free the slaves among other things.

Democrats = Keep minorities dependent & poor so they will vote for us. (selfish)

Republicans = Help make everyone independent, even if that loses votes for us. (unselfish)

    Wake Up!

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. This is the prime reason why there will never be a united front with the Black community!! Divide and conquer!!
WE ARE NOT LIVING IN THE PAST!! We have to deal with issues that we are facing now and going forward. When African Americans complain about the ill effects of slavery and its negative impact on the community, one is quick to denounce that, specifically white folks. One would say “That’s an excuse”, or, “THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ME”.
If I recall, there was no outcry from Blacks folks about an apology for slavery. We deal with the cards that has been thrown to it.
This is nothing but a guilt complex by a small minority of black republicans. It is meaningless and divisive.
They are probably feeling that they are losing their inclusion in the white republican mainstream.
Questions: Why now black republicans? Why not eight year ago?
