California will now require a thumb print to purchase ammunition and in Tijuana the drug cartel will relieve you of your thumb for choosing the wrong side.
Border violence continues to escalate along the San Diego/Mexico border with Mexican official Rogelio Sanchez being kidnapped by the Mexican drug cartel. Last week his lifeless body was left to hang on a busy overpass in Tijuana, naked with his genitalia cut off.
Right up the street in San Diego, residents will have to jump through another hoop to protect their families from growing violence.
Phoenix Arizona lays claim to the second highest kidnapping rate in the world behind Mexico City and there is growing speculation that the kidnapping rate is growing in the county of San Diego.
The cost of illegal immigration has more than financial costs. Currently the state expends in the neighborhood of $10 billion per year, the criminal element adds a whole new dynamic to this equation.
So why make it harder for the law-abiding gun owners to purchase ammunition? Why make it more costly for law enforcement officials to purchase ammunition to practice at the shooting range?
This is just another hit in a long list of revenue killer laws that intend to drive California into the ground. What will stop residents from purchasing bullets and providing tax revenue in Arizona, Nevada and Oregon?
Nothing.
What will stop criminals from owning and loading their weapons?
Nothing.
AB962 was penned by Assemblyman Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles and bans direct shipping to Californians who buy bullets via mail order or over the Internet as well.
Now lawful gun owners will have to pick up their bullets at a licensed handgun ammunition dealer, and file paperwork similar to the way guns are bought and sold.
The legislation will not require a waiting period like firearms, however all handgun ammunition must be stored behind the counters.
Along with a thumb print, ammo purchasers will also need to provide photo identification.
The information obtained by the store owner will now be kept on file and made available any law enforcement agencies.

If Gov. Girlyman's intention is to make it harder for Californians to arm and defend themselves from the ever-increasing threats from Messico, his plan will fail. American citizens know they cannot rely on their corrupt elected officials and their local law-enforcement. Gun and ammo sales have doubled in the past 12 months! Thanks Obama and Ahh-nold for helping to wake up the masses!
Too late. This is just another little push against our rights, which will be non existent in another decade or so. Pretty quick we will be more of an entitlement society than we ever imagined. Here comes that health care reform that was promised.......
BTW, we will experience a 12-16% flat tax above what we currently pay between the state and the fed. It's on the floor of both offices being discussed as we speak. This is to pay for the new and improved entitlement programs that are coming.
Nice. Because criminals always buy their guns and ammo legally. I can't wait until some idiot tries that here in Arizona, since our politicians always try to copy California. Should be fun.
Yes, California seems to be ready to stop every day citizens from defending themselves from Thugs and Wetback Criminals - the ammunition registration law now moving in to action in California is just a prelude to total gun control - it just isin't going to happen without a fight ! I know people are not as stupid as the GOV of Mexifornia seems to think !
Hey, Don't blame this one on Obama. This stupid piece of legislation was passed before Obama had anything to say about it. Further, Obama has made no move to curtail or ban the sales or use of guns. Before you go to war you need to know who the enemy is... The question is will Assemblyman Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles be reelected?
As a retired law enforcement officer I speak for many on the line that say Police support the right of law-abiding people to own and carry a firearm.
While Police Administrators may say otherwise, they have political realities to deal with. Politicians think that they know what is best for us, and treat us like children. Well, this child is going to throw these bums out on the street.
Perhaps the cartels and criminals would have reason to pause before selecting their next victims if they thought they might have a weapon... In California, they know their chances are high that there will be no firearm, or at least no ammo.
They'd be wise not to pick me.
Yeah Great! Let's go nuts and outlaw ammunition so that ONLY the OUTLAWS will HAVE ammunition. Screw the law abiding American citizen. That just makes sooooo much sense! You know....America must have to be totally destroyed before people wake up.
When the Mariel boat lift flooded Florida with convicts, thugs, and criminals from Cuba, arming the law-abiding citizens of Florida was what brought the crime-wave under control.
