Investigators are searching for the cause of a fire that killed a 17 year old girl in Henderson on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home on the 300 block of South 8th street at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday. Amee was pulled from the fire alive, but died at LeSueur hospital.

Amee had been babysitting until 4 a.m. in a nearby town, and Amee's mother speculates that someone may have followed her home.

A next door neighbor tried to rescue her, but could not get into the home as the doors were locked. Some news reports have said that neighbors saw flames coming from Amee's bedroom in the basement, however Amee's friend, Amanda Lynn has said that Amee's bedroom was not in the basement and she never went down there. Amanda has also said that Amee never locked the doors.

Amee's mother said that her daughter did not smoke or light candles, and that she has a gut feeling that someone murdered her daughter.

Amee had been living in this home with her father for about 6 months. He was away for the weekend at a cabin, which friends report was a normal occurrence.

Henderson authorities report that this is the first ever fatal fire in their town. Henderson Fire Chief Brandon Phillips has called the death suspicious.
