Rising country music star, Easton Corbin, is the featured artist this week on iTunes.
Beginning tomorrow, February 16, fans can log on to iTunes.com and download the first single off Corbin's self-titled debut album, "A Little More Country Than That," for free.
According to Universal Music Nashville's website, Easton Corbin was born and raised in rural Gilchrist County, Florida. Growing up, Easton spent a lot of time on his grandparent's cattle farm after his parents divorced. "I lived a mile from the Suwannee River," he says. "I grew up fishing on it and I loved to work on the farm. Every weekend, that's where I'd be."
Around the age of 15, Easton took guitar lessons from Pee Wee Melton, who was a local musician and played on sessions in Nashville before. Corbin rushed home from school to play the guitar, often until his fingers were raw.
The website also covers Easton's musical background. It seems not one person in his family played a musical instrument, but music was a big part of his upbringing. "My grandparents liked to watch the Opry," Easton remembers. "We'd start Saturday night off with ‘Hee Haw' and then ‘Opry Backstage' and then ‘Opry Live'."
After graduating college and getting married, Easton Corbin and his new wife, Brinn, moved to Nashville. Corbin always had a longing for the music city. It paid off.
Corbin worked at Ace Hardware by day and by night, performed with other writers.
Easton Corbin's musical talents were passed along to the right people in the business and Joe Fisher, Senior Director of A&R, at the Universal Music Group Nashville, signed Corbin to the label.
Corbin had a hand in co-writing three of the songs on the debut album, but the single, "A Little More Country Than That," was written by Rory Feek, Don Poythress and Varble. The writers portrayed rural life that speaks to Easton's small town sensibilities.
And now, tomorrow, Easton will be the first artist ever at iTunes to have a free single of the week and album pre-order promotion the same day tied together.
The album pre-sale will include an exclusive iTunes bonus track, an acoustic version of "The Way Love Looks."
