Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert may spend a lot of their spare time during hunting season in the middle of nowhere in the woods of Oklahoma or wherever they may be in between shows, with their eyes peeled on the next Bambi coming toward them, but it still doesn't stop the two from raising funds for animals.

As odd as it sounds, the country music couple with land in Oklahoma do care about animals.

The ongoing Twitter battle between Blake Shelton and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) may have made headlines before, but what many may not know is Blake Shelton teams up

with Miranda Lambert in a cause she cares deeply about: The MuttNation Foundation and TAILS (Texoma Animal Improved Living Society).

For the second year in a row, Blake and Miranda have teamed up for a Valentine's Day benefit show for animals, as well as veteran causes for the community of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

The evening of the charity event involves both silent and live auctions, dinner, a VIP reception and an acoustic concert in the auditorium of Murray State College in Tishomingo.

"I love playing the show right there in Tishomingo because it’s people that we know in the audience,” Shelton said by phone from the road in Nashville, Tenn. "People in Tishomingo have accepted us as neighbors and even though they’re interested, they’ve kind of left the music part of what Miranda and I do alone. They’ve been very respectful of our privacy, and this is a way for us once a year to look out at our neighbors and our friends out in the audience and play music for them. It’s all for a good cause, is the best thing."

Miranda Lambert's big heart broke after she visited the Tishomingo animal shelter two years ago; Miranda was appalled at the shelter's dismal conditions.

Along with her Mother, Bev Lambert, President of Miranda's non-profit MuttNation Foundation, the two partnered with TAILS to raise money for a new shelter.

The first benefit last year  earned $70,000 to build a new shelter in Tishomingo that will serve Johnston County.

In an interview with The Oklahoman before the first benefit in 2009, Lambert stated, "It’s really a paradise for me to go home to the animals because they don’t really care who Miranda Lambert is. They just care that I’m the lady with the treats that takes care of ’em."

The second benefit took place Thursday, February 11, once again on the campus of Murray Stage College in Tishimingo.

Tickets to the benefit concert sold out in less than two weeks.

A grand total from Thursday's benefit hasn't been announced yet, but so far the President of Blake Shelton's fan club, Carol, passed along to SCORE Broadcast Radio Group  that ticket sales alone were over $10,000.

The totals for the live and silent auction, dinner and VIP reception, as well as merchandise sales, has not been included. Carol said if she had to guess, at least $10,000 from the auctions was raised.

Last year alone, Miranda Lambert raised over $250,000 for animal charities.
