First there was "She's Country" and then came "Big Green Tractor," both multi-week, back-to-back No. 1 singles from Jason Aldean's latest CD, Wide Open.
But, can the Wrangler-wearing, Georgia-born country-rocker make it three in a row? Time will soon tell, and in interim, the pressure is on for the on-a-roll, platinum selling country rocker Jason Aldean, who will officially release his current album's third single, "The Truth," on Monday, Sept. 28.
"This is one of those songs that I heard the first time and knew I wanted to cut," Aldean says. "It's about a relationship going bad and the guy just losing it over this girl. He's basically begging ... saying 'make up whatever story you want, tell 'em I left town or whatever you need to say ... just don't tell 'em the truth.' I don't know a guy who hasn't been through that before."
Written by Ashley Monroe and Grammy-winning tunesmith Brett James, "The Truth" is a mid-tempo plea for mercy, steeped in electric and lap steel guitar, that allows Aldean to pour his soul into the expressive vocal.
Currently on the road in support of Wide Open, the singer also recently released his first live DVD, the 15-song Wide Open Live & More, which went platinum prior to its August shelf date.
