Steve Wariner has become one of the latest country artists (following the lead of Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town, among others) to jump aboard the webisode wagon in an effort to promote his current music project and keep fans updated.
On behalf of his newest endeavor, the Grammy-winning performer has recorded the first of what will be a series of webisodes to introduce listeners to each track on his forthcoming CD, Steve Wariner, c.g.p., My Tribute to Chet Atkins.
The first clip is currently posted at Wariner's official Web page, as well as on the artist's MySpace and Facebook pages. A new clip is set to be posted every few days leading up to the album's June 23 release.
In each webisode, Wariner relates the story behind the song, be it one that Atkins recorded and made famous, or one of Wariner's original tunes on the record.
Moreover, Wariner will, from time to time, demonstrate one of the guitar licks he plays in the song, and in such cases, viewers will hear a short preview of the featured track.
The full-track listing for Steve Wariner, c.g.p., My Tribute to Chet Atkins, which Wariner has described as a "concept album" of sorts, is as follows: "Leavin' Luttrell," "John Henry," "(Back Home Again In) Indiana," "Leona," "Blue Angel," "Reeding Out Loud," "Producer's Medley," "Tuned In," "6120," "Chet's Guitar" and "Silent Strings."
And for those unfamiliar with the "c.p.g." designation, it's an Atkins-coined abbreviation that stands for "Certified Guitar Player," a title that Chet bestowed on only four guitar pickers: Tommy Emmanuel, John Knowles, the late Jerry Reed and Indiana native Wariner.
Webisode No. 1 from Steve Wariner, who talks about his upcoming tribute CD in honor of hero Chet Atkins.
