Red-hot country: Dierks Bentley releases 'Feel That Fire' on Feb. 3, hits promo trail

Country's Dierks Bentley took on co-producer duties on his latest album, Feel That Fire.
For the past two years, country heartthrob Dierks Bentley has been recording and “road-testing” his new CD’s dozen-song lineup, and on Tuesday, Feb. 3, Capitol Nashville will unleash the disc for the public at large, with 10 days of jam-packed promotion behind it.

A multi-platinum country artist, Bentley says he put more time behind this record’s pre-production than ever before. He also served as the album's co-producer for the first time ever. Feel That Fire is the title of his latest and fourth studio offering, and already it's title track has scored with country fans and radio alike.

'Feel That Fire' ignites new passion within singer-songwriter

Discussing the new CD, Bentley said, "I know everybody always says it, but I really mean it when I say that this is the best album I've ever made. … We came off the road for the first time in six years and took our time to make sure it was just right.

“I'm not the kind of guy, who wants to go into the studio every two years and just keep putting out more of the same,” he added, “ I really wanted to change our initial approach to the recording process … (and) do it in more of a rock ‘n’ roll, or an old outlaw kind of country way. Use your guys; go in the studio; take the clock off the wall. Now, my passion has totally shifted to getting these songs heard by everybody."

Celebrity-TV chat circuit: Bentley makes the rounds in February

As part of his take-no-prisoners effort to get his new music to fans, the Phoenix, Ariz., native worked with the Great American Country network to create an hourlong special in honor of his upcoming CD. Aptly titled Dierks Bentley: Feel That Fire, country fans with cable access can view behind-the-scenes footage, complete with interviews, performances and glimpses of first-time poppa Dierks at home with his new daughter, Evie, several times on GAC between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4.

Winner of the Country Music Association’s 2005 Horizon Award, Bentley will take his album promotion tour to New York the day of the CD’s release for a Feb. 3 performance on NBC’s Today, the No. 1-rated morning show. Then, on Feb. 5, he’ll visit ABC’s Live with Regis and Kelly before returning to the Today set later that same day for the second time in one week, where he’ll log more “celebrity couch time,” as it were.

Racing fans will have their chance to see Bentley in February, too, when he delivers a pre-race concert at NASCAR's Bud Shoot Out at the Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 7, which will be shown live on FOX Television. And if that weren’t enough the blue-eyed hitmaker will sojourn to California on Feb. 11 to chat up his new record on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

With a current top-five single to his credit, the demand for Dierks is hotter than ever, and the 33-year-old country star is doing his best to fulfill the public demand. Thus, he’ll hop-scotch across the country to visit fans and country radio at every turn, including a Feb 2 stop in Washington, D.C., as well as visits to Philadelphia on Feb. 4 and to Tampa on Feb. 6.

New CD boasts collaborations, outlaw songs and bluegrass flirtations

According to early reports, the 12-tune Feel That Fire showcases the 6-foot songster like never before and demonstrates a broader musical palette, from its opening steel-guitar stampede on "Life on the Run," an outlaw-flavored tune, to the closing-time camaraderie of “Last Call,” a bluegrass-flavored duet with Ronnie McCoury. Bentley also teamed with Americana heroine Patty Griffin on the poignant "Beautiful World" number before launching into “Sideways,” a number that’s been pinned as a “gravel-flying, good-time Saturday night special.”
