New mom Jo Dee Messina hitting the road in 5-week 'Music Room Series' tour

Jo Dee Messina, a new mom, will release "Shine," her new single, to radio March 24.

Before too long, country hitmaker-turned-first-time mom Jo Dee Messina will pack up the diaper bag and her guitars to embark on the Music Room Series tour, a five-week concert outing that will combine both song and story.

Kicking off April 16 in New York, the tour will focus on Messina's music and the stories behind hits such as “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” “I'm Alright” and “Bye Bye,”  as well as "Bring On the Rain" and and the Kostas-penned “Because You Love Me," to name only a few.

IN THE QUEST for intimacy, the stage reportedly will resemble the music room at her home, where many of the redhead’s popular songs came to life.

Moreover, the goal of the tour’s acoustic performances will be to provide concertgoers with a glimpse of the selection process behind the songs, as well as the songwriting behind the hits.

"People have known my music for years," Messina said. "I wanted to use this tour to give folks the opportunity to get to know me on a more personal level.”

GOING ONE STEP farther, the Tim McGraw-discovered Messina will field questions and requests from the audience—an uncommon tour feature, to say the least, for established artists such as this Massachusetts native.

“I'm leaving out the fancy production and using the show time to 'visit' with the audience for a while, as if they were to come to the house and sit with me in my music room,” Messina explained. “I think it will be a lot of fun. Instead of going to see a show, the audience will be a part of a show."

IT'S EXPECTED THAT Messina will embark on full-band performances to support the release of her new single, “Shine,” which is set for release to radio March 24, and her long-delayed album titled Unmistakable.
