Jonathan Singleton & The Grove are now on tour.
Rising new group Jonathan Singleton & The Grove just unleased the lead single, "Livin' In Paradise," from the group’s upcoming debut disc from Universal Records South.
The Dann Huff-produced track is already receiving early recognition from music bloggers and critics, including one of this writer’s favorite scribes, Music Row's Robert K. Oermann, who called Singleton's voice "impressive" and gave it the magazine's top prize, the "DisCovery Award."
Per Music Row, "The song is ear-catchingly structured, with its chorus at the beginning. Even more impressive is his cool, grainy singing voice. Jonathan has already proved himself as a top Music Row songwriter. This proves he has enormous artist potential as well."
Country fans wondering if they've heard any Singleton-penned tunes likely have, but didn't realize. The aspiring recording artist, among other hits, co-penned "Watching Airplanes," a former No. 1 by singer Gary Allan that he wrote with Nashville tunesmith Jim Beavers, as well as one of this writer's favorite, more recent hits, "Don't," a No. 1 country song by Billy Currington.
Inked by Singleton and Ted Jones, "Livin' In Paradise" takes an autobiographical approach to the lead singer's marriage, while sonically mixing the Jackson, Tenn., native's influences, which span from bluegrass to rock ‘n’ roll.
At the time when we were writing this song, my wife and I were pretty broke," Singleton has said. "This song basically says that it's not the big things, it's the little things that keep you going, that make your paradise."
Jonathan Singleton & The Grove loaded ye old van last week and joined Eric Church's Young and Wild tour of 40 clubs in 60 days. The tour will stop in major markets across the country including New York, Chicago, Nashville and Dallas.
