CMA hosts live 'Tweet 'N' Greet' with stars during 'Country's Night to Rock' on Aug. 31

The 2009 festival was captured for telecast on Aug. 31.

CMA will host its first-ever live Twitter feed on ABC.com on Monday, Aug. 31, during the three-hour CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock TV special on ABC.

Dubbed "Tweet 'N' Greet," the Twitter-enhanced event was designed to create an interactive feed between the fans and performers. In turn, fans can use this opportunity to not only ask questions of their favorite artists, but also get a peek "behind the scenes," if you will.

Per planners, those who want to take part may do so from 8-11 p.m. (ET) Monday by logging on to view "tweets"--or messages--from artists such as Trace Adkins (@traceadkins), Dierks Bentley (@dierksbentley), Lady Antebellum (@ladyantebellum), Martina McBride (@martinamcbride), Reba McEntire (@Reba), Kellie Pickler (@therealpickler) and the Zac Brown Band (@zacbrownband).

Additionally, CMA (@CountryMusic) will update fans with information on the participating artists' upcoming album releases, tour dates and appearances during the broadcast of Country's Night to Rock telecast.

Per CMA reps, country musicians taking part in Tweet 'N' Greet will post their observations about the show as well as behind-the-scenes tidbits, anecdotes about other artists performing on the show and memories from past music fests.

As for the decision to combine the upcoming broadcast with live interaction from the country stars via Twitter, Dan Bowen, VP of strategic marketing and communications for the CMA, says the social-networking site is simply a great fit and communication vehicle.

"Twitter is one of the best ways right now to directly connect with fans. especially ones on the cutting edge of technology," he remarked. "We're excited to work with ABC.com to be able to bring a great group of country music artists together with their current fans, and hopefully, some new ones."

This year's CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock was shot in high definition and will feature performances by chart-topping superstars and "revealing" special segments about fan favorites, assure CMA reps.

Among those scheduled to perform are Adkins, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Julianne Hough, Jamey Johnson, Lady A, Miranda Lambert, McBride, Jake Owen, McEntire, Brad Paisley, Bentley, John Rich, Darius Rucker, Pickler,  Sugarland,  Zac Brown Band and Taylor Swift. In addition, Kid Rock will perform his hit, "Picture," with McBride, while Wynonna and Naomi Judd reunite as The Judds to perform together for the first time at the CMA Music Festival in six years.

So get ready, get set, country fans, to get your tweet on come Monday night! And remember, you can always follow this scribe on Twitter, too!
