Songwriters, friends and co-workers of Nashville's Gina Hilburn, a longtime employee of Warner Music Group, gathered at the city's Bluebird Café on June 26 to make music and raise money for Hilburn.

According to a July 7 e-mail, nearly $4,000 was raised during the in-the-round event and auction that was held in honor of Hilburn, who is battling cancer.

Among the hit-making tunesmiths who took part in the recent fundraiser were Lisa Carver, Patrick Davis, Harley Allenand Marv Green, all of whom call  Hilburn a beloved friend.

As promised by the show's organizers and reported via this scribe's June 25 Examiner column, all proceeds from the evening " went directly to Gina," confirmed Hilburn's supporters.

Additionally, the Roger Jennings Davis Memorial Fund, a nonprofit fund established in remembrance of its namesake following his untimely death, also chipped in to aid the auction and songwriters' efforts. Thus, it was through this fund's matching contribution that Hilburn's supporters were able to raise nearly $4,000.

How to help: For those interested in contributing to the cause, it's not to late to lend a helping hand via donations that will go to help Hilburn. To help, please mail donations to the following address: Roger J. Davis Memorial Fund, 1708 21st Avenue South, No. 101, Nashville, Tenn., 37212. Please write "For Gina" in the subject line of the check.
