with music

Teen sensation, Taylor Swift, has quickly learned the ropes in the music business. From playing acoustic shows down a Wal-mart aisle, to headlining her own tour, Taylor has climbed her way in a field that is normally dominated by male singers. These days those Wal-mart stores are selling her clothing line.
In the beginning stages of her career, Taylor became acquainted with fans thanks to using Myspace. Putting herself out on the line, she shared stories, photos, and inside thoughts with those that would listen. When she released “Tim McGraw,” young girls took note as they could relate to the lyrical content. Her award show performance singing directly in front of Tim McGraw won the hearts of many across the country.
Then it was time to take her talent and cross over boundaries in world of pop music. Her tunes were being played on pop and country stations. She has made appearances on MTV and VH1, gaining new fans in the process. Taylor also sang on the CMT Crossroads with rock legends, Def Leppard.
Besides the fact that Taylor crossed over into the pop music while tuning into country, what made her successful? One of the simple things would be that young girls had someone they could look up to and who they could relate to. Growing up, we all had the fairy tale dreams of having a prince to pick us up on a white horse. Taylor took those same dreams and put it to lyrics. In a world full of scandal, it is refreshing to see an artist that isn’t afraid to not be like everyone else.
Even with Taylor’s popularity, she still takes the time to thank the fans and keeps up with them. Perhaps having that Cinderella fairy tale has helped her sell out many show dates on her Fearless 2009 tour with Kellie Pickler. When you are fearless, there is no limit as to what you will do to succeed in the music business and in life.

Nice analysis and story; I think the biggest thing that made Taylor popular and successful besides a sweet personality is her relatability. I know many adults that admire her and see in her someone they would love to have known in teen years as well as someone they can admire and wish to listen to as 30-40 year olds and even older. I hope she doesn't get pulled too far into celebrity-hood as I think that can spoil or diminish even the most real of people.
Thanks Matt! Yeah it has surprised me that she has maintained a level head over the last couple of years whereas others have scandal surrounding them. She definitely knows marketing. One of my friends said that they were amazed that her clothes are selling in the same store that we saw her perform begging for people to hear her.
