Loretta Lynn to receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Kentucky country music legend, Loretta Lynn, will be honored in a special ceremony for the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.  The Butcher Holler native will be among the selected honorees alongside Leonard Cohen, Bobby Darin, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Michael Jackson, André Previn, and Clark Terry.  Country music legendary producer, Harold Bradley, will be honored in the Technical Grammy Award Honors.

The coal miner's daughter raised in Butcher Holler has evolved over the years, most recently joining Jack White in producing the Grammy award winning Van Lear Rose album.  She has been in the business for almost 50 years and continues to sell out concerts.  With over 70 hit songs, Lynn has influenced generations of country music and other genres of music.  She was the first female country artist to be certified gold when her album Don't Come Home A' Drinking reached that milestone.  She continues to work on new material and plans on releasing more albums in the near future.

The special invitation-only ceremony will be held during GRAMMY Week on Jan. 30, 2010, and a formal acknowledgment will be made during the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, which will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 31 and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.

Loretta Lynn will be performing several stops in Kentucky, including Hullabaloo Festival in Louisville this summer. She will be performing at Renfro Valley later this year on October 8th and 9th, 2010.
