During the 2009 CMT on Tour, Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser are running across the country bringing real country music to the fans. With sold out shows, they have captured the hearts of fans. While on tour, they have showed their heart by supporting our troops. At shows, they are asking fans to write thank you notes on postcards to be sent to the troops through the USO (United Service Organizations). When the tour concludes in December, memorabilia from both Johnson and Houser will go online for sale at CMTAuctions.com. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the USO.
"Those guys in the field need some emotional connection to home, and I think this project will bring a little bit of home to them," said Johnson. "Regardless what your political beliefs are about the war, you have to respect the fact that another human being in your country is willing to give their life for your freedom." Houser adds, "Any way that we, as entertainers, can provide comic relief, music relief or any kind of support to our troops is worth making because of the effort they make for us every day."
Jamey Johnson is a proud Marine who served the military before moving to Nashville. During a recent show in Cashocton, Ohio County Fair, World War II veterans were present as they attended the concert for free. The emotional stories were shared amongst the veterans as they took part in the war action while the rest of us just saw it through black and white photos. They, just like Johnson's song says, "seen it in color."
Kentucky fans will have the chance to catch the 2009 CMT Tour featuring Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser in Louisville, Kentucky on December 17th and Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18th. The show is filled with musical surprises with both performers being headliners. The tour recently kicked off in New York City to a sold out crowd and is continuing to bring country music to fans throughout the US.
