The song “As Good As It Gets” from ‘Middle America’ is a fan favorite, but such an understatement  --  this new release shows Mark McKinney is far, far more than just as good as it gets!

Mark McKinney's new album 'Middle America':    “The song “As Good As It Gets” from Mark McKinney's new ‘Middle America’ is a fan favorite, but such an understatement, because from my review of the album, it’s only going to get better!” Texas’ own, Mark McKinney, with his new album, ‘Middle America’, released September 9th and the title track of the same name, is already spreading through radio stations to rave reviews and is skyrocketing on the charts as Mark and his Cosmic Cowboys criss-cross Texas.

The song “As Good As It Gets” is a fan favorite, but such an understatement, because from my review of the album, it’s only going to get better! Mark’s high energy live shows have won an ever increasing legion of fans and earned him a reputation as “The Entertainer” of the country/rock scene. And this reviewer is truly smitten with Mark, his Cosmic Cowboys and ‘Middle America.’

Whether on the radio or on the stage, Mark’s honesty, energy, home-grown country and a little bit of rock-n-roll are hard to argue with – and as his site says: ‘Mark is quite comfortable in that skin.’ A few tweets on Twitter from Mark sure shows his real self, the friend, the man and the honest, untarnished man.

The album ‘Middle America’ is jam-packed with songs written by Mark and his friends. Kevin Fowler http://www.kevinfowler.com/ even been makes a guest appearance in ‘County Line’.

NASCAR http://www.nascar.com/ has even been playing ‘Middle America’ & ‘Stompin’ Ground’  as well as Mark McKinney’s other songs during their broadcasts on both ESPN and ABC. From 'Middle America‘ song, Trouble’ definitely reflects the rousing, rowdy lyrics and sound of every country western cowboy and cowgirl… yep, we’ve all been there!’

Add ‘Middle America’ to your iTunes player and in the car too. Your destination comes much too fast. It’s too good to leave and I find myself driving around the block more times than usual, just to finish my Mark McKinney and his Cosmic Cowboy country music soul-food for the day. Well, of course, once there, iTunes at work, lunch, and the drive home and ‘Middle America’ and Mark’s albums are back with me all the way!

With his first single ‘Middle America’ released in April, 2007, Mark’s intuitive drive followed the star path with solo album, ‘Get It On’, which he took from his own experiences (as well as those of his closest friends and family) to produce a collection of songs that has been appropriately described as ‘foot-stompin’, sing-a-long, feel-good country with a strong melody.’

Four singles from the ‘Get It On’ album were also praised by radio and the Texas Music Chart. Comfortable in This Skin, Party Foul, Bonfire and Stompin’ Ground’ are radio and fan favorites. In addition, the Bonfire Music Video is playing on both CMT Pure and GAC, and ‘Get It On’ was the featured country album on iTunes recently for four weeks. For this album, Mark teamed up with his best friend, Nashville-based producer Rob Dennis, whose production credits include Lynyrd Skynyrd and Cross Canadian Ragweed. Along with producing ‘Get It On’, Dennis founded the independent record label Super Loud Music – the label Mark now calls home.

Mark McKinney, continued his drive for country music legends star status as he ‘seizes the moment’ with the release of July, 1998’s ‘Back In The Day’. It features the title track ‘Back In The Day’, keeping us grounded but rockin’ and remembering the days that were ‘days’ of when life was oh so good and easy. On the same album, the song ‘Old Words of Wisdom’ embodies Mark’s determination to keep close to those good country values and truth in who he is. No pretentiousness here, just truth, and incredible talent and genuine pride in his values.

Mark McKinney, born and raised in Big Spring, TX, musical tastes mix ‘as easily as drinking beer and eating barbecue’ as quoted from his website and confirmed by fans like me!  Mark McKinney, strongly credits his father for instilling an appreciation for upbeat, energetic songs. Mark also describes his diverse musical background, “Although I grew up listening to country legends like Willie Nelson and Charlie Daniels, I was also heavily influenced by rock and pop.”

That is the beauty of country music, especially Mark McKinney and The Cosmic Cowboys – the no-limits, unboxed genre, especially from our Texas born stars. This intutive, native talent in Mark’s music has earned him a unique place in the country music/southern rock scene. And that special talent for combining the many sounds of southern rock and country, there is no doubt that Mark McKinney ‘Middle America’ album propels his star status to rising way over the ‘County Line’ into the country music stratosphere!
