Brett Michaels
Lynyrd Skynyrd is back again. The iconic hard driving southern rock boys from Jacksonville, will bring their classic sound and more on their "God and Guns Tour" to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte on June 19. Tickets are selling quick and the show is guaranteed to be a southern rock-fest. Joining the boys will be another iconic southern rock band .38 Special. To top it all of The Celebrity Apprentice Champion himself Brett Michaels is scheduled to bring his own brand of rock to the show.
Skynyrd and .38 Special are a guarantee for the show. Brett Michaels, aside from making headlines as a contestant on Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice has experienced enough health issues and near death experiences in the last month that his appearance has been put in jeopardy. The lead singer and driving force behind '80's hair-band Poison suffered an emergency appendectomy about a month ago. While doing the standard rehab for this type of operation, Michaels experienced a Sub-Arachnoid Brain Hemorrhage. Michaels said the headache hit him like a "thunderclap" and the resulting headache was more than he could bare. A lifelong Type I Diabetic, Michaels acted quickly and got himself to an emergency room in time for doctors to initiate stroke protocol treatment to save his life.
As if this brain hemorrhage was not bad enough, just a week ago Brett Michaels suffered a TIA or what doctors call a Transient Ischemic Attack. This "small" type of stroke is still dangerous and a could be warning of a larger more debilitating stroke in the future. At a specialty hospital in Arizona, Michaels physicians determined through Cat Scan and other diagnostic testing, that the cause of the T.I.A. was an abnormal hole in Michael's heart called a Patent Foramen Ovale or PFO. The condition is operable and Michael's plans to have that operation in the fall.
As it stands, a note from Brett Michaels on his website indicates that he may try to return to touring as early as May 28th in Biloxi. If this is the case and his health holds up he may show up at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte for the June 19th show with Skynyrd and .38 Special.
Tickets for this show start at a great deal of $25.00 for lawn seats up to $59.50 for seats under cover. There is not a bad seat in the house and it is always a great time starting with the pre-concert tailgate. It's too bad these great bands won't make it any closer to Charleston, but get your friends together and take a road trip. While your in Charlotte you can check out the new Nascar Hall Of Fame.
