Riding the white pony: Omaha's meth problem

Not everyone has done recreational or designer drugs, but most people have been in some situation involving these substances.  Lately, the newest problem is methamphetamines.  Sure, it was known just as "speed" in the 70's and 80's.  It is now more commonly known as the White Pony, Tweak, and Nazi Dope .  You may ask why "Nazi Dope"?  Well, look it up!  Hitler's surgeon general would inject methamphetamines into Hitler before his speeches!

In 2006, 70% of the crime in the state of Nebraska was considered meth related.  Though it has been in steady decline in the past few years, the problem still persists.  This year it has been reported that meth labs are on wheels and it is even easier to manufacture.  Something called the "one pot method" allows "cooks" to produce the drug in something as small as a water bottle.

Meth has a way of destroying not only the body, but the mind as well.  You may see the normal meth addict with sores and pustules all over their arms and back. This is not always the case.  Sometimes it just effects the user's teeth and mouth.  The main thing that is noticeably different from the typical meth user from a non user:  their mentality. They will begin to borrow at first, to sate their fix.  Then they will  steal, from anyone, family not excluded.  Meth eats at the mind and body like no other drug.  If you are a meth user, this site may help you overcome:

If you can not do it for yourself, do it for your family and friends.  There is no guarantee you will survive the night to be able to realize the consequences of your addiction.  Addiction is said to be a disease and who wants to be sick?  With love and a little help its nothing but a speed bump, no pun intended, on your road to redemption.  When you realize you love the drugs more than your family, you realize it is time for a change!

The Author of this article is a recovered multiple drug addict and has lost more than one family member to meth. Literally.  They are dead now.
