Maggie Jones, best-known as the memorable Blanche Hunt on Coronation Street, has passed away on December 2, 2009, at the age of 75, during recovery from an undisclosed surgery. Coronation Street fans all over the world will mourn the passing of the character who has been on the show since 1974.
Blanche, mother of Deirdre Barlow, and resident of 1 Coronation Street in Weatherfield, was an iconic character with wit and snark and she never ceased to surprise viewers who loved her.
