"Victoria's Secret is dragging us all to utter ruin..."
Napoletano (aka The Redhead) made a good case. She made, at least, a passionately inspiring—if not Greenspanesquely convincing—argument for her case that Victoria's Secret® may be singularly to blame for the current economic recession. She was on stage at the Boulder Theater, dwarfed by big-screen images of giant (and proportionately "ideal") VS models wearing only the plain white cotton pantie which anchored the retailer's recent give-away ad campaign. In bold contrast, Napoletano's elegant bare-shouldered black cocktail dress seemed to tell its own story in counterpoint.
That scene was part of Ignite Boulder 5. Several hundred creative professionals from around the region filled the Boulder Theater to hear over a dozen fast-paced presentations and two popular Boulder bands. The Redhead was a featured presenter at the July 2 event, just days before she broke her leg in the less-than-adventurous spill that triggered her "Better Story than Mine" writing contest. Napoletano steps out from behind her keyboard more than many other copywriters DCCE knows; during the week of these big events, she also agreed to this interview...
DCCE: What new trick/method have you worked into your writing recently?
EN: "I hide cookies mid-blog. Macadamia white chocolate chunk are my favorites.
DCCE: You co-host the Denver Tweetup; who should other writers follow on Twitter?
EN: "I don't recommend that anyone follow anyone, actually. It's all a matter of what you're looking for. On Twitter, I think the best way to find the right people for you is to look at those whose content you enjoy and see who they're following. Read those streams first, and then follow them if you like. Otherwise, you're going to end up with a bunch of crap in your stream created by people you have no attachment to... you'll just get frustrated.
DCCE: What can you dish about the project you're most into right now?
EN: "There are two new non-fiction books brewing. I'm about halfway through writing up my proposals for both of them. You'll hear more soon, I promise. For now, bugger off. :)
DCCE: Name your Top Three Denver "Distractions" (places to go, things to do).
EN: "First, I recommend St. Mark's Coffee House/The Thin Man. Go in the morning for coffee and dirty chai, and at night for great martinis. Oh, and they have the best scones evah! Next, you should check out The Meadowlark Lounge for some really good live music (f*** yeah!). Then, I've got Soleil Mediterranean Cherry Creek in my top three... their tapas are 'to die for' good."
DCCE: Thanks for the Q&A, Red. So, what's your personal "tagline" today?
EN: Ha! I'd say, "Shattered tibia: it's what's for breakfast."

Hey, nice bio piece. I've lived in Colorado about 15 years now... Writers are some of the most interesting people! Plus, Denver is a great city, and I'm always looking for new spots to check out. Thanks for sharing both.
