You may have seen these offered as a topping the last time you went out for ice cream. All this is, is a syrup like sauce with walnuts mixed in. It is very simple to put together and tastes even better when it is served warm. Use this over your ice cream or as a finisher to any dessert, such as a trifle or brownie sundae!
Walnuts in Syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup walnuts, cut into medium sized pieces
In a non stick pot over medium heat, combine sugar, syrup and water.
Stir until clear and bring to a boil and cook for about 2 minutes...No stirring!
Add nuts and cook at a boil for about 2 more minutes... this time stir!
Remove from heat and cool. Pour into a small mason jar. Use it right away or store in refrigerator until ready to use, then heat it up to serve it warm.
