Sugar cookie recipe

This recipe was passed down to me from my friend Amy. It was passed down to her from her mother!

 

 

 

Amy's Sugar Cookies 

  • 2 1/4 C. sifted flour  
  • 2 tsp baking powder           

  • 1/4 tsp. salt 
  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 1 C. sugar

                      
  • 2 eggs, beaten

              
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

                     
  • 1 tbsp. milk

Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together. 

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, then add sifted ingredients and milk. 

Roll and cut.  Sprinkle with sugar, bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes. 

Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
