A great way to save money on groceries is to make your own bread crumbs. Often times, if I have a left over hoagie roll or bread slices, I will make these bread crumbs and avoid having to throw the bread in the trash.
A great place just outside of Raleigh, NC to buy bread is: Soho Bakery in Wake Forest, NC.
Parmesan Herb Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 loaf of sliced bread or 2, 8 inch hoagie rolls
- 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp dried parsley
- 1 tbsp Parmesan and herb seasoning (optional, see picture in slide show)
- 1/2 tsp each, black pepper, onion powder & garlic salt
Leave bread on the counter for 4 hours to overnight.
Add bread and spices to food processor and process until fine crumbs are formed.
You may have to run the processor twice, depending on its cup size.
Add processed crumbs into gallon size zip top storage bag, zip and mix together well.
Store air tight in bag.
