This week at Whole Foods: A cooking class, food information, meetings, and a cook-off

The calendar is full this week at Whole Foods! A variety of events are scheduled at the store, several of which will benefit the Whole Planet Foundation charity.

On Thursday, March 11, join the Memphis Raw Food Group for a get together to discuss the raw food lifestyle, experiences, recipes and more. Great for experts and beginners alike. For more information, or to register, visit their Meetup website. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Please bring $5 or a dish to share.

On Saturday, March 13 learn more about the Whole Planet Foundation. Take a trip around the world discovering the countries that the Whole Planet Foundation works in. Taste delicious items from around the world, pick up global recipes, and enter to win a Whole Planet Foundation gift basket! Don't forget to make your donation at the register. From 1 - 2 p.m. join Melissa Peterson, Editor of Edible Memphis for a charity cooking class! Her delicious recipes will feature certified Fair Trade and Whole Trade Guarantee ingredients! Donations of $10 will benefit the WPF. Space is limited so please register in advance by calling (901) 761-9730.

The weekend's activities wrap up on Sunday, March 14 from 1 - 3 p.m. with the Whole Foods Market Cook-Off. Whole Foods Market Team Members go head to head to show off their most delicious recipes. All recipes will feature Certified Fair Trade and Whole Trade Guarantee ingredients. The best part - you get to be the judge! Taste all of the featured appetizers and desserts for a $5 donation to the Whole Planet Foundation, which is making strides against poverty around the globe. All judges will be entered to win Whole Foods Market prizes, including gift cards, goody bags and more! Join us for the cause!

Whole Foods is located at 5022 Poplar, and is open from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday - Saturday and 9 a.m - 9 p.m. on Sundays.

Williams-Sonoma in Germantown will also be hosting a free cooking class this Sunday, March 14.
