It’s that time of year again. Men get that urge to pull out the BBQ, clean up their cooking utensils, and pull out that silly apron that says “World’s Best Chef” on it or some such thing. Well have I got a knock down, drag out recipe for burgers that are tasty and can be prepared ahead. You can freeze these and have them on hand so that they only need to be defrosted the night before a planned BBQ or take with you to a BBQ being held elsewhere.

Bad Boy Burgers
- 1 package of hamburger (how much you think you will need for the # of burgers you want to make)
- Mushrooms
- Worcestershire
- Onion
- Swiss cheese
- Mashed Avocado
- Alfalfa Sprouts
- Kaiser Rolls
- Tomatoes (fat ones that will be large enough cut in rings to cover one roll
- Crackers
- Dijon Mustard
Special Sauce
- Ketchup
- Ranch Dressing
- Mayonnaise (not miracle whip)
- Mix together to taste
Put burger in a bowl and add Worcestershire. Use hands to knead the meat and Worcestershire together, keep adding Worcestershire, burger should be mushy enough to hold other ingredients. Add diced onion and sliced mushrooms. Knead together. Break up crackers into meat mix, crackers, should be broken real fine. The burger should feel moist but stay together, if it doesn’t continue to add crumbled crackers until you can make a burger that stays together in a firm shape. Make flat burgers about 1/3 larger than your Kaiser rolls. Refrigerate one hour before grilling and take out about 5 minutes before grilling. Cook on the grill, flattening them out as they start to plump and place Swiss cheese on top of each burger the last 1 minute of cooking.
Each burger gets One grilled Kaiser roll in this order from bottom to top: Dijon mustard, burger, slice of tomato, mashed avocado, alfalfa sprouts and on top roll special sauce. I put a large tooth pick with the plastic flags in each bun top to hold these bad boys together.
Serve with your choice of salad or chips.
Make ahead directions; Make the burgers with the Worcestershire, crackers, onion and mushrooms as above. Place a piece of wax paper between each burger and store in Gallon zip bags. Freeze until the day before a BBQ.
