What's your story?

The StoryJumper website.

It’s winter, and you and the family are snuggled up indoors in your jammies.

Why not use the cold weather as an opportunity to create that story you’ve always wanted to tell?

I’m a firm believer that everyone has a story inside him or her, just waiting to get out. But the thought of writing a book can be an intimidating one, to say the least.

A website called StoryJumper can help draw the story out.

Users can build a book from scratch, or use one of several templates as a jumping point. Page by page, users can choose from an assortment of props or upload their own photos, then choose from various themed scenes.

Finally, it’s time to select one of several text boxes and start writing the text to accompany the illustrations. Once you’re done, you can share it with others on the site, or have a hard copy of the book printed for $24.95. Special school discounts are available for teachers.

At a loss? Simply save your work in progress and return later. Perhaps read some of the books that others have written for inspiration.

Or take a breather, pull on your jacket and hat, brave the inclement weather, and go in active pursuit of a story. Then come back and bring it to life on the page.

You’ll be glad you did.
