Over the past few days Dick Morris has commented on national TV that he believed a man named Paul Akers was considering running against Senator Patty Murray (D-WA). Morris believes that Paul Akers can and will beat Murry.
Today, Monday February 8th, Paul officially announced that he is running for the United States Senate.
Patty Murray has expressed her confidence that she will easily win re-election but Paul Akers may throw a wrench in her plans. The people of Washington State may now have their own Scott Brown (R), who recently shocked the nation by being elected to the seat held by Senator Ted Kennedy (D) for nearly 50 years!
Paul Akers career included serving as a teacher, a contractor, an inventor and now as an entrepreneur and small businessman. Paul is Founder and President of FastCap LLC, an international product development company based in Bellingham, WA, founded in 1997.
WA state unemployment grows, new jobs are not being creating and we have a Governor who cuts funding to education, the poor and elderly while giving the unions pay raises. Paul’s company continues to grow, and is creating more manufacturing jobs right here in Washington. According to Paul: " We have adhered steadfastly to our core values of honoring people's creativity, continuous improvement in the manufacturing process, and the elimination of waste".
Seattle voters supported Obama and his promised "Hope and Change." Many are disillusioned after his first year in office and are now looking for real change. Conservatives and independents are extremely unhappy with business as usual in DC. Many of these same people that voted for both Obama and Murray, know see her as part of the problem rather than the solution.
Paul Akers does not consider himself to be a politician and has never run for public office before. On his web site, he says: "I've decided to run for the U.S. Senate because I know there's a better way. I'm tired of career politicians who go to Washington to spend other people's money too easily and have lost touch with the folks back home. Unfortunately, these career politicians do not know what it takes to create a job, make a payroll, or worry about sitting down with their spouse at the kitchen table to figure out how to make ends meet".
