Van Jones, "Green Jobs Czar"
The note on the website reads:
We are sad to inform you that Van Jones won’t be able to attend our conference this year but are delighted he is working in the White House where he can implement the greening of our world!
Van Jones, President Obama's so-called "Green Jobs Czar" (who was profiled in detail here) was scheduled to speak at the Institute of Noetic Sciences 13th International Conference last month.
And just what is the Institute of Noetic Sciences? Well, its main areas of "research" are:
“extended human capacities” (just a fancy way of saying spoon-bending and reincarnation), “integral health and healing” (not just the expected quack remedies and therapies, but even worse “distant healing” methods as well), and “emerging worldviews” (which combines ecological extremism with New Age spirituality). Members of the Institute’s board of directors and extended faculty include Bishop Desmond Tutu, professional pseudoscientist Rupert Sheldrake, religious left guru Michael Lerner, and (...) Deepak Chopra. You’ll find Van Jones listed as a fellow on the board of directors page...
Not suprisingly for an individual who consorts with such New Age eco-feminist types, Van Jones thinks nothing of declaring, "I don't care what the facts look like," when it comes to implementing a leftist agenda:
Jones has something in common with Nobel laureate Tom Schelling. The man behind President Lyndon Johnson's infamous "Operation Rolling Thunder" bombing campaign against North Vietnam, Schelling recently said to the The Atlantic Monthly about "global warming":
“It’s a tough sell. And you probably have to find ways to exaggerate the threat. I sometimes wish that we could have, over the next five or ten years, a lot of horrid things happen — you know like tornadoes in the midwest and so forth… that would get people very concerned about climate change.”
"If I were to come clean to the American public I would say that, except for a very low probability of a very bad result (...) You know, very little of the US economy is susceptible to climate."
But as Van Jones might say, why let "the facts" get in the way of implementing the latest doomed-to-fail Leftist scheme to make over the world?

Comments
IONS is involved in empirical research (read Radin's, Nelson's, et al's work). If you'd bother to look at the empirical data, you might come to the conclusion that their supports do: there is overwhelming evidence to support many forms of psi.
But you probably won't. Your predispositions and convictions won't allow you to. You're a pseudoskeptic caught in a tight web of closed-mindedness--the earth is still flat to you!

Do your psychic vibrations indicate to you, Mike, what finger(s) I'm holding up?
The flying yogis didnt win in Alberta, but are alive & well in Obama land. They have scatched the bottom of the sea for these conspiracy nuts in positions of power. This guy should be in a rubber room.

"First, we know the surface temperature of the earth is warming There is a natural greenhouse effect that contributes to warming And The National Academy of Sciences indicates that the increase is due in large part to human activity"
- President Bush, June 11, 2001
The National Academy of Sciences (the Supreme Court of Sciences) unequiovocally states that Global Climate Change real and is Man-Made.
So do the all the major Peer Review Scientific Journals. ALL OF THEM.
This is the FINAL WORD on the scientific viewpoint.
The Royal Society (UK) released a press release stating:
The work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) represents the consensus of the international scientific community on climate change science. We recognise* IPCC as the worlds most reliable source of information on climate change and its causes.
In re 11dimensions' post: He has made a classic _ad verecundiam_ argument, i. e., an appeal to authority rather than addressing facts and logic. (His description of the National Academy of Sciences as the Supreme Court of Sciences is the dead giveaway. As a matter of fact, bodies like the National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society are exalted scientists' clubs, comprised of members from many [and disparate] disciplines.) _Ex cathedra_ pronouncements by these bodies are (1) not science, but polemics, and (2) reflect the views of small governing boards, which tend to be controlled by the more politically active types.
Questions in science are _always_ open, never closed. That is why Aristotelian mechanics gave way to Newtonian mechanics, which in turn gave way to relativity theory. Along these lines, one might note that many of the same "climate experts" who are now ovinely shouting, "Gobal warming bad!" were assuring us in the 1970s that a new ice age was imminent.
This Jones involved in Noetic Science is now a Czar under Pres. Obama? Noetic Science sounds like what is described in the Bible as witch craft or satanic. Enough of that.
We have a man appointed to head up this Green Program. This Green Program has no direction and as Van Jones stated, they may stretch things a bit to justify the whole thing to the public? What kind of operation is Obama, excuse me, President Obama running?
From the abundance of the heart , the mouth speaks. Just take in the words this man is speaking, bigot and racist come to mind when you listen to the appointed czar, not the person who should be elected by the people. No more czars OBAMA
