At the Villages in Florida, conservative media superstar Glenn Beck unveiled his hotly-anticipated "Plan" -- a new direction for his program, and for America that he'd been hinting at on the air.
On Saturday, Beck told the New York Times that from now on, along with hosting his popular tv and radio shows, he "would promote voter registration drives and sponsor a series of conventions across the country featuring what he described as libertarian speakers."
He also said he planned to publish yet another non-fiction book in August 2010. (Beck's five previous books have all been NYT #1 bestsellers.)
Already, Mr. Beck’s page on FoxNews.com features what it calls “In or Out 2010,” a “simple challenge” for lawmakers. It includes a pledge to back a freeze in government spending; oppose all tax increases “until our economy has rebounded”; and support stricter immigration enforcement.
According to a message at Glenn Beck's website, the "100 Year Plan" includes:
- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country. The first one will be in Orlando at UCF Arena on March 27th…
- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.
- On August 28, 2010, I ask you, your family and neighbors to join me at the feet of Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall for the unveiling of The Plan and the birthday of a new national movement to restore our great country
As HotAir points out, August 28 is the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr's March on Washington; no doubt this deliberate choice of date will ruffle some feathers in the liberal and African-American community.

I don't doubt for a minute that some would look for an excuse to oppose Glenn Beck. Admirers of MLK are not the Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton race-baiters of the world, but men like Charles Payne and Michael Steele - those who believe you judge others by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
It's not the special interest/victimhood badge-wearers who should be celebrating at the Lincoln Memorial, but those who believe in limiting government's powers.
Putting all of these issues aside, does anyone not realize the irony of celebrating Abraham Lincoln as the mascot of limiting federal government's power? The man's entire legacy and identity are defined by championing the federal government's right to override any other legitimacy.
Try reading an actual history book before reading Beck's.
I wonder: Is Beck aware that Rahm Emanuel already put out a book titled THE PLAN? Only Emanuel's book was about restoring slavery to the U.S.--you know, Universal Mandatory Involuntary Servitude, etc.
I find it interesting that people are so close minded to Glenn Beck and, more importantly, change and reform. If this nation would simply be open minded to change and reform it would be able to more effectively solve it's economic and social issues. Glenn Beck is proposing such reformation and should be supported while doing so.
Glenn has the "PLAN." Me and the old lady are really becoming some sick twisted freaks of the highest order.
Plan For The Ultimate Capitalist Utopia: End social security so citizens will be free to work until the day they die. Eliminate public schools. Education is only necessary for those who can afford to pay for it. Most of us only need to know how to pull levers, lift heavy things or sit on street corners. Abolish the minimum wage. Workers should be free to work for food if that's their choice. Make the US #1 in infant mortality and preventable disease by ending all health-care entitlements for all citizens. This will also finally bring down America's absurdly long life-expectancy (don't be so greedy). Make America #1 in prison population and allow businesses the freedom to use prison labor. It gives the inmates something to do. Make every bank a Bank of America, every store a Wal-Mart and every government worker an FBI agent or prison guard. Aside from that, we'll be practically government-free. Like Somalia. We'll have the lowest taxes in the land and liberty will reign supreme.
Glenn Beck needs to be tazered

Gotta see Obama and Jintao talking about the economy and America's debt to China.

Wow, Hillary sounds pretty cynical! I'm glad that's not Becks agenda. I'm glad his agenda is to restore the vision the founding fathers had in mind. Ya know, the one where people are free to do business without being bothered by a tyrannical government. It seems as though that's what free enterprise means! Oh, and don't forget, the fundamental difference between the U.S. and Somalia is, Somalia is run by a religion fueled by hatred and revenge. It wouldn't make sense for it to be a nice place.
