Carter's 'racism' accusations 'shock the conscience'

Calling it "a story that shocks the conscience," Tuesday night Sean Hannity devoted considerable time to former President Jimmy Carter's assertion that President Barack Obama's critics are motivated by racism.

Carter recently told NBC News:

I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich joined Hannity to unpack Carter's slanderous comments. Gingrich pointed out the obvious: that the Left's rabid hatred of President George Bush was "vastly greater" than any animosity currently being displayed towards Obama.

"Many people thought Jimmy Carter failed, too," Gingrich added, "but I don't think they voted against him because he was white."

However, the "obvious" will never convince those for whom radical politics is a pseudo-religion; as Gingrich reminded viewers, "far Leftists can't believe anyone could possibly disagree with them," so they conclude Obama's critics must be motivated by "something more sinister": racism.

So far,  Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com has offered the best response so far to Carter's twisted comments:

If Jimmy Carter believes that the “overwhelming” portion of criticism towards Barack Obama is due to racism, does he also believe that the overwhelming portion of criticism towards Israel is anti-Semitic?  Wouldn’t that apply to a man who hangs out with people who target Israeli citizens for terrorist attacks?  After all, Hamas regularly issues anti-Semitic harangues and smears, and yet Carter has no problem cozying up to them and claiming that their criticism of Israel is legitimate.

From now on, using Carter’s own logic, we should note each of his remarks on the Middle East by saying they come from “Jimmy Carter, known anti-Semite.”  Two can play this game.

    ROTFLMAFAO....

I'm no fan of Obama - but that's the funniest piece of disinformation/propaganda I've read in weeks.

    Thanks for the morning laugh.

Disinformation, misinformation -- the bottom line is that this former elected official should NEVER have issued such a statement when there is no basis for it!

    Thanks for the follow-on chuckle.

Carter probably overstates the case with his "overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity..." But anyone who has spent any time at all reading the blogs etc. is less than honest if he/she doesn't see the undercurrent of racism in a significant portion of the most vitriolic comments.

It frequently gets in the way of legitimate criticism of administration policies and proposals.

Let's face it, Obama is NOT qualified for this position. He is what people accuse him of being, a smooth talking rock-star president. He DOES have strong Leftist leanings. He REFUSES to show a real birth certificate and refuses to even talk about the subject. He was an inexperienced senator who more often than not, over 100 times, voted "No Opinion" while in the Congress. Its not an issue of race but an issue of inexperience. Obama must have VERY POWERFUL friends because just two months before the election "somehow" the plug got pulled on the economy, making it almost impossible for Mccain/Palin to get elected, and allowing Obama to use the failed economy as a springboard to the Presidency. I suspect that the Bail-Outs to the banks and powerful money morgols are really repayments for this "favor". Sure, blame "racism". Blame White people all the time, but aren't those baseless and slanderous accusations the worst type of Racism against the White race.

Wow, MB - and to think I just got lectured this afternoon by someone claiming the economy tanked in early 2008 because it became clear Obama was going to be elected and all the rich people moved their money out of the market in a pre-emptive move to avoid those monstrous tax increases he was going to impose...

Oh wait... thos tax increases haven't happened either, have they?

Jake, is it possible for you to be rational for a moment and explain to me just WHY every critism of Obama MUST be an example of racism? What has he done, EVER, in his political career which is worthy of praise? He was a non-descript failure as a senator. Show me an important bill he ever sponcered or had passed. NOT ONE!Now as president his failures are being blamed on "White Racism", as usual, but being in the spotlight and having people actually listen to his far leftist agenda is bringing on legitimate critisms from Blacks and Whites together. And you are wrone Jake, the economy took a nose dive in September of last year, just two months before the November elections. Jake, try and get a grip on reality. To see"Racism" everywhere is a sign of mental illness, but its curible. Just judge every issue on its merits as if race wasn't always a factor on your world. Obama's Health care Bill is a failure because the PEOPLE don't like it.

MB, I already expressed my opinion that it is SOME of the critics, including "It frequently gets in the way of legitimate criticism of administration policies and proposals."

As for the economy, the stock market began a precipitous decline in May - and gas prices were abominable all summer of 2008.

Frankly, I predicted in early *** 2007 *** that the economy would crash within 18-24 months - and that whoever got elected in 2008 would have to be incredibly lucky to avoid being a one-term president, because he/she would walk into an economic disaster.

Kind of ironic when you consider good ole JC and obama have so much in common. I said it before he took office that obama would be another Jimmy, and now the two-faced Carter is coming to his rescue. This is an obvious ploy to distract people from things like a 12 TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, over 10% UNEMPLOYMENT, THE ACORN DEBACLE, and try to belittle the tremendous turnout in DC. People have finally wised-up to crooked politics and the Leftstream Media however, and a lot see through this so-called TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION. Regarding good ole JC, he didn't matter even when he was supposed to matter in the late 70's, so why in the hell does that clown think anybody cares what he has to say now. obama and Jimmy Carter, two of the worst possible candidates for POTUS ever.

Take away the extraneous BS and you come away with: if you oppose Obama, your racist.

Well, I guess I just have to break down and admit I'm racist.
Next big disaster will be cap and trade.

Dirty Harry et al: You DO realize that we're still under the fiscal year 2009 budget - the last one G W Bush signed, right? Which means that $12 trillion deficit is a legacy from the Bush administration.

Now, I'm not saying Obama is going to fix it; it's almost certainly going to rise whatever he does and he may indeed enact policies that make it even worse.

As for ACORN, the best numbers I've seen show they got about $50 million of federal money over the last 10 years (8 under Bush, remember). Break that down and it averages $100,000 per state per year - less than a blip on the federal budget.

That's not to say they should have got it - but keep some persepective here: ACORN's sins are a drop in the bucket compared to the K Street lobbyist scandals.

Crooked politics do not respect party lines - both parties are guilty.
