Where is Obama's outrage over the murder of U.S. Border Agent Rosas? His silence is deafening.

As I have said in past articles, I am going to continue to watch the behavior of the liberal media and Obama regarding big issues that come out and how they react.  This time I’m ignoring the liberal media because I’m so incensed that again a man in uniform is murdered in the line of duty on U.S. soil and Obama has said nothing about this nor has he sent his condolences to Rosas wife and two children(at least not publicly).  I scoured the www.whitehouse.gov press briefings and statements and found nothing.  I scoured the web and found... crickets.

On July 23 while protecting the United States border from illegal aliens, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas was gunned down and murdered by illegal aliens crossing the border.  The full details of the story are not yet out and some illegals are in custody.  This is the first death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent since 1998.  Others have been shot at but none have been murdered since then.  From the NYDaily News:  “Federal officials have expressed concerns that the drug cartel battles plaguing Mexico could spill into the United States with the targeting of U.S. law enforcement officials. Slotter said investigators aren't ruling out the possibility that Rosas was slain by drug smugglers or even human smugglers.“

Since the United States and Mexican border is becoming a huge issue with the drug cartels, I would think that Obama would at least make a comment on this murder by saying how unacceptable it was and that the U.S. will not tolerate violence on the border against law enforcement officials.  What did he say?  Nothing.  Most politicians do not want to discuss one of the biggest issues facing our country because they worry too much about the Hispanic vote.  Well maybe Hispanics that are legally in the U.S. will get how much Obama could care less since he hasn’t even acknowledged Agent Rosas death.

Within hours after Dr. Tiller was murdered, Obama expressed his outrage.  Within hours of the Holocaust Museum murder, Obama was ‘shocked and saddened’.  Within a day of Michael Jackson’s death Obama sent his condolences to the Jackson family.  Within a few days of the incident, Obama stated during a prime time press conference that ‘the Cambridge Police Department acted stupidly’.  Yet he said nothing, nada, zip about the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.  Obama had the opportunity to open up further discussion about the serious issues the United States is facing at the Mexican border.  We have proven crime increase issue because of the drug smugglers.  We need to send troops to the border or simply close the border yet Obama said absolutely nothing about this heinous crime.  One of his own employees was murdered on duty on U.S. soil and he is silent.

There is absolutely no justification for not discussing this murder and the crime that is going on at our borders.  The Mexican drug cartels are seeping into America and no one other than local law enforcement seems to give a damn.  This issue affects every single one of us but more importantly the people who live in Border States.  They are the ones that have to deal with these crimes first hand.  Obama completely blew an opportunity to step up border patrol and claim outrage to the Mexican government.

The Mexican drug cartels are laughing at us right now.  Our own president didn’t even make a comment on the murder of a border patrol agent.  What is wrong with Obama?  Is the illegal alien vote that important to him that he neglects such an urgent issue?  He makes comments about an abortion doctor, a pop star and a black liberal elitest Harvard professor but is forced to make a comment about Army Private Long , murdered by an American-turned-Jihadist and makes no comment about Rosas’ murder by illegal aliens.  His pattern of behavior is becoming quite clear.  Obama does not seem to hold anyone who is in uniform, serves his country and is willing to die for his country, in high regard.  By not saying anything at all regarding these issues, Obama’s silence is not only telling but increasingly deafening.

UPDATE:  I just did another search and found a condolences message on the White House web to the Rosas family.  Why is no one bringing this up to Gibbs?  Why is there no 'outloud' discussion about it???

UPDATE:  It came to my attention from commenters on my article that the message above was not made by Obama but by Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano.  It is true, you can see it here.  All Obama did was a cut and paste.  He didn't offer his condolences at all to the Rosas family although his blog leads one to believe that the words are his.

CORRECTION:  In 2008, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was murdered as illegal aliens fleeing from the border patrol intentionally ran over the agent.  Agent Rosas' murder was the 2nd since 1998.  Thank you again to commenters.

There is still no statement from Obama, it was only from Janet Napolitano. They posted it on the WH Blog. I am sure Obama doesn't want to take a stand on this on fear that it might offend anyone in the Latino community and their potential vote.

There was an agent deliberately killed last year by a vehicle, but this is the first gun shot murder since 1998.

Not necessarily every cop, Jim. Just every federal law enforcement officer, serving the federal government -- of which Obama is in fact the chief executive.

I drove all night long after working Thursday to be in El Centro honor Agent Rosas. I'm really upset that he (Obama) couldn't make a small effort to send a short note to the family and all of the Border Patrol. He sent a long condolences message that was read during the Oakland Police funeral this year.

Obama has relatives here illegally living off public housing. His aunt was ordered deported some years ago which she ignored. She was living in the Boston area in public housing. Since her nephew is now president, she has been granted another hearing. Nothing like special treatment. Obama doesn't care about enforcing our immigration laws. He won't even show his own birth certificate. I can't wait to vote this empty suit out of office.

The government was sweating bullets when this agent was murdered. They sent out Agents to investigate. within 30 minutes they had permission for helicopters to fly over Mexico. And they offered a hundred thousand dollar reward. They didn't make one peep about this murder. The state run media didn't write one article about it. Only Carl Braun at the San Diego Examiner has been writing excellent articles about the murder and illegal immigration. Janet was on the phone to Obama and the rest of the droids trying to bury this.information.It's obvious they want silence. They want compliance they want obediance from the American people. They don't want us to know that an American Border Agent was alone , in the dark, and killed with around 20 Mexicans watching. If the fence would have been built correctly he would be alive. What a curse this government is to the middle class Americans.

folks, you have to understand why, the corrupt Obama administration is silent. They are silent because if they talk about murdered border agents, fences, Mexican Drug corruption, etc. etc., it would bring attention to their treason in not doing anything about it. You know, the old saying, "out of sight out of mind." They know the average Americans attention span is about 5 minutes or less. That is why WE, who do care, need to talk to our family, friends, and relatives about all of this. Explain to them, the treason that is happening with illegal immigration against the AMerican citizenry--OR, WE HAVE THE CHOICE OF FINANCING MEXICO'S SOCIAL PROBLEMS FOREVER.

Thank you everyone for your comments and thank You Mrs. M and Jim for pointing out that Obama did not make this statement. It is easy to see that it would be attributed to him as it is on 'his' blog.

Jim I don't think you are getting the big picture. Politicians continually ignore the issue with Mexico's illegal aliens and everything going on at our border. THIS should have opened up new discussions to resolve the issue. When Obama finds the time to makes comments about the others I mentioned in my article (who have NO bearing on this country whatsoever), he needs to find the time to comment on people whose deaths DO have bearing on this country.

For any current and former agents posting - THANK YOU for all you have done and are doing to help protect us from people such as those that killed Agent Rosas and to keep our borders safe.

I've waited to hear Obama say something, anything, about the death of the BP Agent. Had it been the other way around, the Mexican government would make it an international incident and demand all sorts of investigations. No one in this administration has publically offered any condolences, nor even mentioned it. They don't want to upset Mexico. They might stop sending their illegals here, and this administration, like several before it, has no intention of stopping illegal immigration. We need to have someone as unafraid and strong as Eisenhower. He had no qualms about sending the braceros home. No PC, no apology, no nothing - just go. We haven't had anyone with the guts to do this in a long time. And, folks, we won't as long as illegal immigration is so profitable to so many.

A missing item is bad training at the NM facility. Since Customs and Border Protection (CBP) took over from INS, BP training has been one cluster foxtrot after another.

The CBP clowns at the Reagan building, Washington DC have pushed expedient and bad training for several years now, since the move from SC to NM.

At first the facilities in NM were so limited that new agents often bunked four to a room. Some quit on the spot.

Due to conditions, new agent Spanish speakers were graduated early to make room. Thus the course was crammed into fewer hours. Could it be that this fine young Agent, with a beautiful wife and adorable kids wasn't trained properly?

Those in charge of training at HQ Reagan Building, DC need to be criminally investigated. Hints of bad standards and slack training are rampant, some documented. One suspected area is pistol skills. The program manager for Spanish training couldn't speak a word of Spanish. Millions was wasted on a new BP course neve

The federal government doesn't care about the issues along the US border with Mexico and is hoping that the problem will "just go away". The less media coverage the better. The situation along the border is a disgrace and this administration knows it. Our border patrol people are out numbered and out gunned. Smugglers and illegals cross the border almost "at will". Soon, Salt Lake City will be the new capital city of the drug cartels.

Well, I guess what Obama meant, if he is not to be accused of hypocricy is, that he is even less concerned about the border and border patrol agents than Bush was. That might be what he meant by "change". I guess we misunderstood him.

I am outraged as well as we have our own government to blame for this matter. Under GWB the Justice Department, DHS and Border Patrol prosecuted two Border Patrol agents who returned fire in a night-time engagement with a Mexican drug dealer. Justice then brought this drug dealer into the country to testify AGAINST them! We have emboldened these militant drug dealers into such actions by doing nothing when they do fire upon Federal Agents, and prosecuting the Federal Agents who fire back. The BATFe is going around homes near the border asking to inspect privately held firearms under the guise of verifying that US Citizens are not trafficking guns, but they don't give a damn about the drug traffickers!
I am saddened by this loss, and those that will surely follow. I am also saddened to see that the Border Patrol, one of the finest agencies in the country has to suffer under this type of repression.

I'm sad that he died, but where do you draw the line. If Obama has to comment on Rosas, why not on every cop that dies in the line of duty? Why not every soldier that dies in the line of duty? Why not every CIA or FBI agent?I think Obama dis-likers are unfairly drawing the line for him much higher than any past President.

This administration is not dealing with this issue of illegals - and it is definitely a HUGE problem here in NM (as well as it is in TX, AZ and CA). His silence on the murder attests to their avoidance of the problem and their slight of hand politics (focus on health care and make everyone upset about everything they want to socialize/communize so they forget the illegal issue) speaks very loudly to anyone with a brain...

The author is incorrect when she says "this is the first death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent since 1998". I know of at least one other, Luis Aguilar was intentionally run over by a fleeing drug smuggler in January 2008.

I also shudder at some of the extremist views expressed in this article and by some of the commenters... A murder is always tragic, and I'm sure Obama & Bush feel grief and sadness upon hearing about law enforcement or military deaths.

DN I don't think you get it. Obama comments on a late term abortion Dr.'s murder - WHY? He comments on Michael Jackson's death - WHY? He's forced to comment on Long's death and makes no comment about Rosas' death - WHY? Every murder of law enforcement is tragic but Long's and Rosas' murders DIRECTLY reflect some horrible things that are serious issues in our country right now.

Picasso - maybe you should tell your President to keep his mouth shut when it comes to unimportant people then unless of course they serve your agenda as well.

JAH - Exactly WHAT extremist views are you talking about?? Please do tell.

WEG - Well... I wasn't commenting on politics then but if I was I would have called Bush out on it as well; however, apparently there was 1 during his watch - Luis Aguilar. I have no idea if he commented.

To all - ALL politicians do not want to deal with this issue for fear of voter retribution - Obama could have taken a stand - he didn't. HE is the President now.

Where was all of this criticism when Bush was driving this country economically into the ground? This appears nothing more than an attempt to attack Obama for having the nerve to be black and the President of the US. Sorry Ms. Morin but the vast majority of Americans can easily see through your racist, right wing attacks behind Agent Rosas death. Its pathetic. That lame argument is just another way for liberals to DETRACT from the REAL issue at hand which is that Americans do NOT like Obama's insane policies. As I stated before, I was not writing about politics when Bush was in office. Had I been I would have crucified him as well for the overspending. According to the newspapers Agent Rosas had been with the patrol for about two years. This would place him in training at the NM site around the time that training was most disrupted and crowded, and under the old patrol course. The old course had many problems that were never corrected, and made worse under NM site disruption.

As stated previously a New Course was drawn up by contractors who knew little about law enforcement. Thankfully it was never used.

The jackasses in charge in DC have made things worse. Probably none of them could even name a border state if their lives depended on it. None can even speak passable Spanish. The whole cabal should be investigated for dereliction.

One problem is that the old Customs agency as part of the CBP has had over reaching influence in BP affairs. Old Customs drones have been able to place their trolls in a number of key positions.

Anytime you here US Customs, think of stupidity.

    TO FED UP

Please look at those reports you read with a open mind. Fact: The (EOD) for Class 621 was 05/22/2006 that would put the time frame more then 3 years ago. The graduation date was 19 weeks later. 621 was Robert Rosas class. Fed up I know you are on the side of good but even if an agent graduated from training at the academy after 2 days or two years he or she would have extensive (FTU) which means field training unit. Fed Up, Agent Rosas had atleast 3 years with the Border Patrol. With all the reports of Agent Rosas on the web and print with out a doubt you know that he was a member of the El Centro Police Department Reserves. Agent Rosas also was a Corrections Officer for a number of years before he joined the Border Patrol.

My wife and I attended Agnet Rosas Memorial and I have to leave you with something that Mrs. Rosas said at the memorial Not a perfect quote. take 5 mins. each day and give thanks to your loved ones. I wish I had 5 more mins. with him. you do I dont

The issue is not whether Agent Rosas received training but the quality of training received. It appears he was at basic in NM during the time of greatest disruption.

During that time the dorms were stacked over full, the mess hall was so crowded sometimes lunch was impossible, there were limited laundry facilities, there were two shifts of trainees and talk of a third shift. How good can training be under these circumstances? Also few senior agents volunteered to teach due to the bad location and conditions.

Sometimes being on the good side means questioning the clowns in command who make disastrous decisions. Those who authorized the move to NM should be fired no question. Primarily at the SEC ranks and others in high positions who stood by and let the BP take it on the chin.

Another factor not discussed was did Agent Rosas hesitate too long because he remembered the unjust prosecution of Ramos and Compean? Management got off the hook there too.
