Warning: If you get a 'Certified White House' email, it is a scam and it IS from the White House.

.

I’m sure you have all heard about the ‘Certified White House’ email that was sent en masse by David Axelrod this week regarding healthcare.  If you had never been to the White House site nor signed up to receive emails from the White House or Obama’s campaign, you all of the sudden received an email from one of Obama’s advisers:

“Across the country we are seeing vigorous debate about health insurance reform. Unfortunately, some of the old tactics we know so well are back — even the viral emails that fly unchecked and under the radar, spreading all sorts of lies and distortions….. So let’s start a chain email of our own.“

The White House is sending out chain emails further distorting the truth about healthcare, excuse me, health ‘insurance’ reform to millions of people in the country.  When did they decide to change the name?  When they thought it would be in their best interest because insurance companies are seen as ‘evil entities?  Either way the ‘Certified White House’ email is filled with disinformation.   Email chains are considered scams and many social networking sites ask that they be reported.  Most email applications even have a ‘spam’ button so that emails from sites can be identified as spam before getting into your inbox the next time.  Don’t we get enough spam emails in our inboxes?  Is the White House really proud of the fact that their email will now be in the junk email box next to ‘Grow your man tool 10 sizes bigger’?

Speaking of ‘man tools’, when White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked by Major Garrett about the emails being sent to people who had nothing ever to do with Obama or the White House and never requested to be on any email list, he blatantly refused to answer the question:

“Q So there's no -- you don't have an explanation for how someone who never signed up and never asked for anything from the White House would get an e-mail from David Axelrod?
MR. GIBBS: Well, I hesitate to give you an answer, because you might impugn the motives of the answer.
Q Why would you say that?
MR. GIBBS: Because of the way you phrased your follow-up. I'd have to look at what you got, Major. I don't -- I appreciate the fact that I have omnipotent clarity as to what you've received in your e-mail box today.
Q You don't have to have omnipotent clarity. You don't have to impugn anything. I'm telling you what I got -- e-mails from people who said they never asked anything from the White House --
MR. GIBBS: And I'm simply saying --
Q -- and yet they received something.
MR. GIBBS: We can -- let me go to someplace else that might be constructive.”

Note to Mr. Gibbs, it is constructive to know why the White House is spamming millions of inboxes with emails that contain misinformation about health ‘insurance’ reform and where exactly the White House got the email addresses.  What list do they have?  What other information does it contain?  Why do they have it?  Are they using our tax dollars to get emails from direct marketing companies?  Are they getting emails from some other location?  Interesting that both Facebook and Twitter were just hacked into and now spam emails have appeared to people out of nowhere.  People I know that are not on Facebook or Twitter did not get the Axelrod scam spam.  Just an interesting thought is all.

Afterwards, Garrett provided the email addresses (with permission) to the White House who claims they are looking into the issue.  Does anyone seriously believe that the White House is going to truthfully report on where they got these email addresses and what other information they have gotten a hold of as well?  The most UN-transparent administration in the history of this country is absolutely not going to all of the sudden become transparent (as was promised during Obama’s election).  In the future, if you receive a ‘Certified White House’ email, just know that it is a scam spam and report it as such.  The White House has implored people to report any chain emails they receive that contain healthcare misinformation.  You can start by reporting Axelrod’s latest to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I have received a couple of things over the last few months from these people. I have asked repeatedly to be removed from their list, yet I still get their propaganda. Its laughable.

I am recently seeing a lot of people, who are originating unsolicited emails, complaining about receiving unsolicited emails from the White House.

Apparently they don't understand when they ask recipients to forward their email, some where down the forwarding chain someone will forward their email to flag@whitehouse.gov with their originating email address visible.

You're ridiculous. It is not mis-information. I think if you read all of the bills and stop listening to the B.S. on Fox news, you'd make your own decisions. I don't agree with the SPAM-tactics, but I'd rather see that the debate is a healthy one and not a bunch of B.S. I think it's sad that people don't want everyone to have insurance. Your insurance won't change at all. So why not let the rest of the country have access to affordable insurance? What the hell is wrong with you people? I didn't see the republicans even attempt to tackle this. It is a difficult issue, but at least something is FINALLY being done about it. Get with the program.

Nope, not cool. I voted for Obama because he was such a terrific communicator. These are boned headed tactics - using unsolicited emails sent to opponents without their permission - and no one would stand for it if Bush had done it.

It's like the government knocking at your door, uninvited, like a Jehovah's Witness. I don't care if the information was 'good' it was the wrong way to deliver it.

What irks me the most is that I would like to see at least some form of this bill passed. Ticking off the opposition just makes them dig their heels deeper in the sand. . .and in this case, I don't blame them.

Obama, go back to Axelrod and tell him "NO WE DON'T!!!"

Jennifer are you for real??? The only reason I had to use Fox news was because THEY are the ones who brought this issue up. I did personal research as well and found the same thing - people getting unwarranted emails.

I do my OWN research. I don't listen to ANY talking heads on ANY news stations. If I hear something... I research it.

You are clueless sweetie. EVERYONE wants REFORM. Just not gov't control. You need to take your own advice and stop just believing what Obama or any of his talking heads tell you. You'd be better off.

T Mackenzie - RIGHT ON! I totally want reform as to all Americans.. but what Obama and his minions are doing is just getting in the way of any serious debate over it. THEY are politicizing it... not us. You Rock!
