A recent Rasmussen poll showed that 83 percent of U.S. voters do not want any government health care benefits extended to illegal aliens. The poll was conducted among Republican, Democrat, and independent voters. That is a slight increase since June, when Rasmussen reported 80 percent of American voters were opposed to providing illegal aliens with medical care. Despite the overwhelming opposition to illegal aliens being treated with taxpayer funds, the Democratic majority in Congress has thus far, defeated every proposal which would safeguard against this country’s illegal immigrant population being placed into a government healthcare plan. In late July, the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee defeated one such amendment which would have excluded illegal aliens from Obama’s massive healthcare bill. The committee voted 26-18 to defeat the measure introduced by Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV), which would have required the use of the existing Income and Eligibility Verification System and the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements System, before any care is given. This move would have ensured that only U.S. citizens would receive the taxpayer funded care. The 26 Democratic members of the House Ways & Means Committee who voted-down Heller’s proposal are: Xavier Becerra (Calif.), Shelley Berkley (Nev.), Earl Blumenauer (Ore.), Joe Crowley (N.Y.), Artur Davis (Ala.), Danny Davis (Ill.), Lloyd Doggett (Texas), Bob Etheridge (N.C.), Brian Higgins (N.Y.), Ron Kind (Wis.), John Larson (Conn.), Sander Levin (Mich.), John Lewis (Ga.), Jim McDermott (Wash.), Kendrick Meek (Fla.), Richard Neal (Mass.), Bill Pascrell (N.J.), Earl Pomeroy (N.D.), Chairman Charlie Rangel (N.Y.), Linda Sanchez (Calif.), Allyson Schwartz (Pa.), Pete Stark (Calif.), John Tanner (Tenn.), Mike Thompson (Calif.), Chris Van Hollen (Md.), and John Yarmuth (Ky.). Responding to the defeated amendment, Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said: “At a time when the federal government is running trillion dollar deficits, and the projected costs of the proposed health care overhaul seem to grow with each passing day, the committee that writes our tax laws wants Americans to pay for the health care costs of illegal aliens. Given the opportunity to close loopholes that would cost the public billions of dollars each year, Democrats on the committee unanimously rejected an amendment that would bar illegal aliens from a national health care program.” So, when Obama stood before the nation in a joint session of Congress and told us that illegal aliens would not be covered in his healthcare proposal, he was in fact lying. ?

Illegal immigration IS a Crime.
Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact; has committed a federal crime.
Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

Don't be so naive, George. Words on paper are meaningless if there isn't a means test to determine whether or not someone who applies for benefits from a taxpayer funded program is an American citizen, a legal immigrant, or an illegal alien. In other words, what is going to stop an illegal alien from applying for benefits under the proposed health care bill? Nothing, that's what. Illegal aliens will be lining up by the millions to apply for benefits under the proposed health care bill and the government won't do anything to try to stop them from doing so.
Speaker Pelosi and others have been trying to say that the House plan (HR3200)doesn't cover illegal aliens because it doesn't specifically say that it does. However, its been pointed out that unless legislation specifically bars illegal aliens from anything and requires verification -- illegal aliens always end up getting the benefit.
Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) attempted to close the loopholes in HR3200. Heller offered an amendment that would have included meaningful verification procedures before people can access taxpayer-funded health care benefits. But, 26 Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee voted on a party-line basis to reject the Heller Amendment.
Once again, it appears that the Dems care more about illegal aliens than American citizens. Big Nanny Democrats want to ration health care for everyone in America — except those who break our immigration laws.
